Wayfinding & Kiosk Design Kick-off @ Camp Long 10/18 |
|
Join members of the West Seattle Trails Alliance on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Camp Long's fantastic lodge building to kick off the year-long Wayfinding and Kiosk Development program. This kickoff event starts at 10:00 am and will help establish the schedule and priorities for the design, location (siting), art elements and development of the ten (10) kiosks and nearly 100 on-street markers (wayfinding signs) which will be part of the West Seattle landscape and streetscape. The Alliance received a Large Matching Fund grant from the Department of Neighborhoods ($99,700) for this work and we have one year to accomplish a lot of tasks. The kick-off ends promptly at 12:00 noon (the Lodge is booked for another event at 1:00 pm). Individuals who wish to linger can do so in the adjacent grounds or in one of the nearby cabins. Your participation is not only important for your ideas, comments, and collaboration, but is part of the "matching" element for the grant. Please attend and bring all your best ideas about walking in West Seattle with you. There will be a brief presentation summarizing the history of the project (5 years, to date) and how this fits into existing trail networks and how West Seattle Trails fits into the City of Seattle's long-range plans for an improved pedestrian environment. |
