Podcast Mechanics

In this 9 minute audio exposition I explain how my podcasts are created. The essay is applicable to anyone using Windows, Macintosh or Linux (or any BSD or *nix system with appropriate shareware or open source libraries). The methodology I use is more complicated than necessary because I'm recording the audio while walking which requires a bit of editing to remove pauses and hard breaths (I'm climbing hills while talking). This was recorded on Friday, July 8, 2005.

The description goes into a fair degree of detail, including what plug-in filters I use within the digital waveform editor and the various steps involved in taking raw audio and posting it in MP3 format on a website. I do not go into any detail about RSS feeds owing to the fact that the software I use to publish these podcasts - iBlog - offers an automatic RSS feed.
