On May 29,2002 twenty-five young piano students performed for family members and friends at the annual Spring Piano Recital. For the first time, this year's recital was held in the Cashman Conference Center at the WITC campus. Composers represented this year included Gershwin, Ginastera, and Chopin. After the presentation of awards, we had a chance to visit and enjoy refreshments with many parents, grandparents and relieved students.

Megan Haugen was delayed by traffic and arrived too late to perform in the recital. However, she and Jerri played the Sonatina for Two (Rondo) by Vandall to an appreciative audience who delayed their trip to the refreshment table. Lee Stovall turned pages. Click here for a larger image.

The background music is Satie's Gymnopedie No. 2. If you enjoy listening to music on your computer, you might want to visit the Classical Music Archives, where you will find over 13,000 music files by nearly 1,000 classical and contemporary composers. Another good site is the Classical Piano Midi Page.

There are thousands of sites with MIDI music files on the web. MIDI files are tiny compared to MP3 files so you can download them even if you have a slow Internet connection. The Lutheran Hymnal site has 5 complete hymnals on line with music in MP3 and MIDI formats. They also have the words to the hymns and carols. You will find it here. The Diocese of St. George's, Newfoundland maintains a site with hundreds of MIDI files from the Catholic Book of Worship here. TheUnited Methodist Hymnal on Line is here. Here is a marvelous folk music site created and maintained by Lesley Nelson.
