Image:The Greenway at the Heritage Center

One popular feature of the New Richmond Heritage Center is The Greenway, shown above. The Greenway is a natural area along Paperjack Creek, which flows through the Center grounds on the north. From left to right the buildings you can see are the Norwegian cabin, the log barn, the gazebo, the Ubet Store and the Pavilion. The paved walkway is part of a trail system being developed in New Richmond.

John Beebe and Debbie Suennen Rickard answered questions and introduced visitors to the Kiwanis Club of New Richmond. Besides providing Kiwanis Scholarships, the club helps support many community organizations including the Boy Scouts, Salvation Army and the New Richmond Foodshelves.

Los Inkas entertained visitors with music of Ecuador performed on traditional instruments. Los Inkas is a group of eight musicians from southern Ecuador. They describe their objective as to keep Ecuador's "culture alive and promote the knowledge and appreciation of its native music overseas."

John Driscoll of Manitou Free Traders in Minneapolis, MN exhibited a wide variety of tools and instruments from pioneer America. In the photo he is holding a bearskin quiver with handmade arrows. You can contact him at http://manitoufreetraders.com/.

Jim Saliny teaches strings and directs the school district orchestra program in New Richmond. He provided music for visitors to the Camp Nine Schoolhouse.

Steve Tomashek carves and paints.tiny animals. He can not carve enough to meet the demand, but he does offer some wonderful photos at this location.

Vic Martinsen exhibited an extensive collection of rocks and minerals. One of the most spectacular was this section from a conglomerate boulder showing how copper had replaced rock. To see how large this boulder was, click here.
