Smells like....Victory

For quite a while I have been sporting the following button on my sidebar....

As a military member, it is my view that we are in a Long War against Islamofacists who don't suffer diplomacy, and see doubt as a sign of weakness to be attacked.

Iraq, while it started out as something else, is the current battlefield of this long war. Weakness and retreat will only embolden our enemies, even those who are not fighting on that particular field. Precipitous withdrawal from Iraq in the short term may assist some domestic re-election efforts, but in the long terms of the Long War will be a disaster for our national security.

That is why it is so disturbing to see members of the Republican Party, allegedly the party for a strong national security, choose political expediency over doing the right thing. Listen up guys, it ain't always about you and holding your office. Grow a backbone and risk a little personal sacrifice to win this Long War. At least with political sacrifice, you get to keep your life.

Be Pro-Victory, and join the Victory Caucus.

UPDATE: Hugh Hewitt, a major backer of the Victory Caucus, likes to call these spineless entities "White Flag Republicans". I, of course, prefer "Vichy Republicans". On Hugh's show last Thursday, the always sensible Mark Steyn pointed out that these resolutions will prove true Bernard Lewis' statement that America is "harmless as an enemy, and treacherous as a friend..." Steyn also makes the cogent points that current efforts "...are a contemptibly immature way to discuss a war..."

Listen to Steyn boil over during the first 10 minutes of this clip. Punditry at its best....
