Good Reads for the New Year

- Bill Roggio has a good round up of the "State of Jihad" around the world

- Roggio also seems to have one of the few good running narratives of what is going on in Somalia

- On the milestone of the 3000th military death in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Gateway Pundit points out the continuing failures of the media when it comes to perspective concerning U.S. military casualties related to Iraq. I do not say "in Iraq", since as I have pointed out on previous occasions, quite a few of these deaths are not actually in Iraq, and not all are combat related.

- The Northeast Intelligence Network has an interesting analysis of the Saddam execution video. Is it possible that the media has again only had interest in the sensational (ie a snuff film), and missed the important issues that are right there to be had by all?
