Quick Hits

- Woo-hoo! Patrick Ruffini has returned from wandering in the desert. Go see what he had been reading in his blogging absence, and check out his three-headed blog (Regular, On the Side, and Technology), along with his '2008 Wire'.

- Michelle Malkin is going to travel to Iraq to try and find the endangered species "AP-soursus Elusivus", or by its common name, Jamil Hussein. Go contribute to help fund her trip.

- I recently posted on new resources for Military History. However there is also much to be said for military heraldry, and some of its irreverent tributes to, and lampoons of, tradition and unit/weapon system pride. One great Air Force example of this are two F-16 pilots who form the band 'Dos Gringos'. These guys have two albums, both available on iTunes, with plenty of great songs. Their writing pokes fun at other fighters and their pilots as opposed to the glory it is to be a Viper driver, the hell that is being a Predator pilot, the Navy, the Air Force in general, and most of all...themselves. Expect plenty of coarse language, and copious references to alcohol and other debaucherous activities. For my money, some of their best songs include I'm a Pilot, Going in for Guns, Predator Eulogy, JDAM Blues, and World War III.
