some things do change

Here is a quote from a White House press release:
"Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled or hanged."

(Hat Tip: Larry Kudlow )

O.K., so it is from circa ~1865, and the speaker was allegedly Abraham Lincoln (I have not yet seen a definitive sourcing on this, when I do, I will drop 'allegedly').

While this quote is immediately catchy, it comes to mind that the time in question was fairly different. An internal civil war is a far sight different than what we face today. While I consider what the likes of Dean, Kerry and Murtha are saying is reprehensible, I do not see it as treasonous. Extremely naive acts perhaps that provide verbal aid and comfort to our enemies, but not intentional efforts to bring defeat to the United States military.

That being said, the bulk of the Democratic Party leadership needs to wake up and smell the hemlock. They need to realize that words have consequences, and their words get considerable play amongst the MSMM (Main Stream Muslim Media) and encourage our enemies. Continued ignorance of this fact will cause more and more Americans to believe that the quote above should be applied to them.
