$1.91

Today I paid $1.91 for regular gas in Virginia Beach. The last time I gloated about how gas had dropped below $2.00, it managed to rise again up to the highs we saw earlier this summer.

Despite that, I can comfortably say that I never saw gas priced above $3.00 where I lived in Texas. When I drove from Texas to Virginia during the first week in September, I saw prices dip below $2.40 on the east side of Houston, and then fluctuate between $2.30 and $2.70 all through LA, MS, AL, GA, NC, and VA. This is a pretty good testament to the fact that high gas prices can often be caused by the state where said gas is being sold (and the taxes and regulations), and not to some Vast Haliburton/Cheney/Bush Conspiracy.

Lets just hope that OPEC doesn't suddenly get stupid and cut back on production causing prices to rise yet again. OPEC can greedy if they want, but they should realize that higher prices will actually spell their eventual irrelevancy as those prices will drive people to find alternatives....

Since I am still a shareholder of Exxon-Mobil, I can only say I hope this doesn't affect my dividend!
