Iraqi Hostage Scam?

There has been speculation for some time that some of the hostages in Iraq might have been working in concert with their captors. Hypothetically one could say that captive in question would achieve the goal of giving the US a black eye, and the captors would be able to get a pile of money in ransom.

A recent example was that of German national Susanne Osthoff, who was released after the German government paid a handsome bounty. Following her release, Osthoff sympathized with her captors and refused to leave Iraq.

Now comes word that Osthoff was found with part of the ransom that the Germans had paid to release her.
Focus said officials at the German embassy in Baghdad had found several thousand U.S. dollars in the 43-year-old German archaeologist's clothes when she took a shower at the embassy shortly after being freed. The serial numbers on the bills matched those used by the government to pay off Osthoff's kidnappers…

Now somebody tell me that this wasn't a scam concocted between jihadists and leftists. The kidnapping makes the US look bad, the release makes the jihadists look benevolent, and the jihadists get moolah to finance their terrorism.

I mean, we already know that jihadists and leftists enjoy each other's company....
