Slander of the Military - Part Two

So, not only are our soldiers too dumb to avoid the recruiters sales pitch and avoid service in a war zone, now we are told that once they get there they are the most violent and murderous Army in our nation's history.

Jason Van Steenwyk of Countercolumn alerts us to the latest bile from Sy Hersh, an effort that ought to earn him a slander or defamation suit from any GI who has served in Iraq.
"If Americans knew the full extent of U.S. criminal conduct, they would receive returning Iraqi veterans as they did Vietnam veterans, Hersh said."
So Sy would have Americans spit upon our returning soldiers again?
“In Vietnam, our soldiers came back and they were reviled as baby killers, in shame and humiliation,” he said. “It isn’t happening now, but I will tell you – there has never been an [American] army as violent and murderous as our army has been in Iraq.”
Jason hits the nail on the head with his assessment:
"Notice Sy Hersh feels he's above getting at the five Ws. There's no Who. No what. No where. No when. There's nothing any editor or reader could use to verify his story. Journalism without a culture of verification is worse than useless. It's a cancer on the body politic. Hersh has become such a cancer. He cares for nothing except bringing down this Administration. He doesn't care a whit about the truth. He spits in the face of his readers. And he obviously loathes the troops."
And like most prominent libs, Sy only says these things outside the country. Probably because there is such a crushing of dissent by the jack-booted thugs. That and the fact that the editors at the NYT would never stand for publishing anything so anti-Bush...

Allahpundit also has a good observation to ponder:
Exit question for our military readers: which type of anti-war protester do you prefer, the “babykiller”-shouting Vietnam version or the “hope you lose but come home safe” handshake-and-a-smile Iraq model? With the latter you save on dry cleaning. But with the former, at least you know where you stand.
I wonder if this is also some form of botch joke.....oh wait, that only describes Hersh's writing....
