About Merlin

And other Photoshop facts

Merlin easter egg in Photosop
« Open Photoshop. Hold down the Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac) key. Go to the layer palette and click on the arrow for the layer palette menu. Drag down and select “Palette Options” from the menu. Say Hello to Merlin, the little wizard. »

I didn't know that. I sworn the other day with my hand on Photoshop install CD (in my Adobe vs. Microsoft post) and I didn't know a thing about the Merlin easter egg.

OK, now try another exercise: Open Photoshop, go to About Photosop and wait until the end of the 5-minute scroll. There he is, in the Gone but not forgotten section: Andrei Herasimchuk.

Andrei Herasimchuk of Design by Fire -- a strong design blog -- held a 10 questions contest in his Great Photoshop CS Giveaway post. The prize was -- you'll never guess -- "a copy of Adobe Photoshop CS that has been signed by the engineers. Yes, the winner of this contest will receive a signed box of Photoshop CS for free — a one of a kind edition that will sure to become a collector’s item."

The tough part were the questions. Damn hard. Go see the questions, the attempted answers (in comments) and the real answers (in And the winner is... post). Than try and respond to this eleventh one – What kind of personal blog runs such a standard promotional campaign for such a huge brand? Whatever. It was fun.

But it ain't over until the fat PDF sings: grab The Birth of a Killer Application – 10 Years of Photoshop by Jeff Schewe.
