Tue - September 21, 2004Anatomy of colorsOr why you'll get a punch out of a red billboard
Ivan wrote an interesting post, over at Creative
Bits, about the Anatomy of colors.
Most designers know, of course, the theory of colors and their range of effects, from the physiological to the psychological ones (and applications of this, like the Lüscher Color Diagnostic). Creative Bits briefly examines the mechanics of sight in regard to the perception of color in an easy to understand (and remember) manner. Excerpt: « The red light focuses slightly behind the retina, this is why a red surface will feel like it's coming towards us when we look at it. » So next time when you'll use a lot of red you will even know why you do it.
