Mon - June 27, 2005Sony Ericsson K750i1224 x 1632 pixels camera phone
![]() 1224 x 1632 pixels (2Mpx) – an amazing resolution for that tiny camera in the Sony Ericsson K750i phone. When I downloaded the fist picture in the computer I was shocked of how much this camera phone species evolved in the last year alone. From a tiny 160 x 120 px (the size of this thumbnails below, incidentally) to a picture larger than my 1600 x 1200 px desktop wallpaper and over half a megabyte despite of the strong compression (same image saved as an uncompressed TIFF would be around 4 MB). Over a hundred times more pixels in one year. Amazing. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here are some successive crops, from full-frame to a 1:1 ratio. Keep in mind that this is a difficult shot for any camera: extreme highlights (causing burnout) is the background, midtones and shadows (meaning noise, of course) in the foreground. You can also see some purple fringing because of the harsh contrejour lighting. ![]() In better lighting conditions (soft light), the color, noise levels and sharpness of the image are absolutely remarkable for a phone (see the crop above). Yay, interesting times! Posted Mon - June 27, 2005 at 10:12 AM Back to | | Feedback: | Read posts: | |
