Cartier-Bresson in Romania

Between Leningrad and Mexico City

Some time ago I've seen some pictures Cartier-Bresson shot in Romania during the seventies and I was, of course, surprised. But during the mid seventies, Romania was a pretty much an open country, only later on, at the end of the seventies and during the eighties became airtight, suffocatingly close. During the eighties a foreigner with a camera could never stood a chance.

So I found it, on a BBC Cartier-Bresson retrospective. The picture made in 1975 shows a couple asleep on a Romanian train. Have a look.
