Sat - May 29, 2004Yes sir, No sir, UlcerThere is no business like ad business
A few days ago I had a conversation with a researcher about corporate
cultures in the advertising industry. To be more specific, we talked -- among
other things -- about the two ad agencies in Bucharest governed by terror and
intimidation of employees.
The findings? Despite high earnings, they're hemorrhaging creative people and their creative standards are low. But this is nothing new, is it? After all, Madison Ave. is famous for its obedience-ridden corporate culture triad: "Yes, sir", "No, sir" and "Ulcer" (I can't remember who said it first), so only the most naive would raise their eyebrows. Even in the other agencies stress levels are insanely high. Not to mention the days before ad festivals, when everyone is on the verge of spontaneous combustion. Can you tell this to the kids dreaming of getting a glamorous job in advertising? Posted Sat - May 29, 2004 at 07:18 PM Back to | | Feedback: | Read posts: | |
