Mission accomplished

Tony Spaeth on TVR rebranding

It often happens that people disqualify themselves by talking too much, too early. The real experts talk latter, and talk less.

Same thing happened with TVR rebranding. The noise passed. Now enter Tony Spaeth -- a man who studied architecture at Princeton, received his MBA from Harvard and serves identity as a profession from 1965 when he joined Lippincot & Margulies (a company he rejoined in 1985) -- and his opinions are backed with solid knowledge and loaded with wisdom. A real expert. I quote from his opinion on TVR rebranding:

« First Impressions: The 'R' solution has drawn some criticism within the Romanian design community (as a sometimes weak on-screen presence, perhaps evoking a snail... a cheap shot but amusing). But in balance I think it works well, both functionally and expressively. It's clearly an R, "Romanian and proud," but not just a boring letterform, an R with flair. In its three-color version, it helps rebrand the entire nation. Strategically, I have to believe this more unitary branding will add up to greater public awareness, respect and support for the entity and its management. Mission accomplished. » [read Tony's full review on Identityworks]

From where he stands, this man can clearly see what it was/is all about: not only rebranding the public broadcasting system, but also making a big step towards rebranding the nation.
