Fri - June 25, 2004Dead IBM HDDRest in peace, tough little guy
They say the hard disks can easily be categorized into two groups: disks
that crashed already and disks that are about to crash. Well, mine just moved
from one category into the other. I didn't lost data because I tend to be maniac
with the backups, but I lost time. Which... hmm... was not that
bad.
On the other hand I am not mad at the poor thing. It served me well in difficult times, traveled thousand of kilometers and was accidentally dropped a fair amount of times. It crunched giant files and innumerable small ones. At only 4200 RPM, it was a tad slow but very reliable until his heroic end. Rest in peace tough little guy!
