Sat - September 24, 2005Apple Store London (I)Posting from it, actually
Yes, I'm posting this from the Regent Street Apple
Store in London, which is packed with people who chose spending a part
of their Saturday evening here. Just like me.
My English vocabulary is too poor by far to even start describing the Apple Store experience — but then again, I would have enough difficulties describing it even in Romanian. And it's not the brick and mortar I'm talking about (not that the gigantic retail space is not gorgeous — it is) but the experience one lives inside it: for a Macintosh fan this is like home. Rows and rows of Apple equipment to play with at the ground floor, Genius Bar, conference area (a guy in front of a giant projection screen is presenting right now iTunes 5 and iPod nano) where I comfortably stand right now, software and accessories selling areas, a kids corner. Music all over the place, friendly faces, everybody talking and saluting everybody and people with open laptops lying around, surfing the net, e-mailing, chatting, blogging. It's great. I mean it really is great. PS. The new iPod nano is an amazing piece of design, I got to play with it, of course — it's the main attraction here, where the frenzy is fueled by the full-blown media flight right now: papers, TV commercials, bus shelter posters.
