Ooops

Microsoft vs. Starbucks

While searching info about Coffee Bean when writing a previous post, I thought I may have a look at Starbucks and compare websites. You have a screenshot of what I found.

Well, I say Starbucks should politely ask customers entering the store: –Are you a Microsoft employee? If the answer is –Yes, the legendary Microsoft quality standard should apply in return to some cold Caffè Lattes.

Update: An old friend of mine (younger than I am, actually, but our friendship goes waaay back) who is working for Microsoft here in Europe, fired me an email saying –Hello, seen that post!, but he will not comment.

Anyway, it seems that the bug is documented here. Ok, so if they deserve to be served at Starbucks with old, cold coffees for undocumented bugs, then for a documented one would be -- what, lukewarm? Kidding. It was a real pleasure chatting a bit about technology and a busy life, Microsoft-style. I tried to convince him to switch to OS X -- he would not, he said Office 2004 for Mac is fabulous and I should buy it -- and I did. Unfair!

A question pops up -- is it possible for a software expert like him to come back in Romania and work at the same level? What does the local software industry offer to start reversing the brain drain someday?
