RoBloggers Survey

Sparse data makes this a needed initiative

If not long ago we still had a big picture of the Romanian blogosphere, in the last two years it seemed to grow out of sight. As I previously said, gone are the days of Troniu's RBA and IRBNLA, arguably the first “directory” of Romanian blogs, when the blogosphere was a pair of lists comprising only a few entries each, one of local bloggers, one of Romanian bloggers living abroad. RoBlogFest dug up a hefty mass of interesting newcomers, and they’re more each day, swarming with unprecedented effervescence ever since.

So what’s the current status of the Romanian blogosphere? How many blogs? On what platforms? How about blogger demographics? It’s a hazy picture, where not even the basic data is subject to guestimate: RoRSS has now over 1300 indexed feeds (mainly blogs), eLearning Blog lists over 600, and only slightly over 200 blogs are enlisted in the Romanian section of Technorati’s blog directory. There are various estimations that in Romania are between 10,000 (Carmen Holotescu) and 100,000 (Antonio Eram) blogs. What we know for sure is that there are out there between 200 and 100,000 blogs so far! Past the head-count raw numbers the data is too sparse to count.
RoBloggers Survey
This situation makes RoBloggers Survey (a joint initiative of Carmen Holotescu and Cristian Manafu) a very interesting and necessary step forward. The purpose of the survey is to get not a cantitative but a qualitative X-ray shot of the Romanian blogosphere. The survey is open until August 15, so please hurry up and take it.

Carmen, Cristi, in my opinion you should consider keeping it open until the end of the month, if not even longer.
