Like I had not enough work to do, Dragos Novac of argumente.ro tagged me. Well, what can I do, a blogger's
honor comes first. This is serious, you don't mess around with this tagging
thing! Or so I hope, because I'll tag a few fellow bloggers myself.
Here we go. Working My first paid job was the one I took during a summer vacation in order to get money for records: [1] Copy-shop clerk. I had a lot of fun that summer and one of the records I remember I bought with the money was Alan Parsons Project 'Ammonia Avenue' (or was it 'Gaudi'?). The second coolest would be the job I did during my wild 'sabbatical' I took off of advertising, which was [2] Motion graphics artist. The rest of the jobs were in the creative department of a few ad agencies as an [3] Art director and now as a [4] Designer / Creative director in a branding and design consultancy. Watching My favorite movies list would be today, right now as follows: Ridley Scott's [1] Blade Runner, which blows me away every single time I watch it. And the music! Oh, the music! A close second choice would be Woody Allen's [2] Annie Hall and Manhattan, movies that can surely cure almost any form of depression. And because I'm what 'the suits' call 'a creative,' in the following slot I'll put Michelangelo Antonioni's [3] Blow Up. It's pretty hard to decide which one will close the list. It would be either Tim Burton's [4] Nightmare Before Christmas, the more recent Sideways or maybe the classical Empire Strikes Back? I'll leave out all Peter Greenaway's films, an obvious choice for all designers/art directors. Living I didn't live in exotically places, except one really, really exotic, so I'll save that one for last. I lived in [1] Baia Mare, my hometown in northern Romania. I spent my student years filled with excesses in [2] Cluj-Napoca and most of my professional life in [3] Bucharest. The really exotic one was [4] Singapore and I still have no clue how or why I got there. Zapping TV shows: none. Sorry folks, I don't have a TV. No TV shows. Eating I love [1] Romanian soup variety called "ciorba" (pronounced like 'cheorba') with plenty of sour-cream and a hot pepper — the Olympics of cholesterol, I guess. My doctor seems to hate that, though. [2] Chinese food, preferably in a cheap joint on the side of the road in a Chinese-speaking country — the Chinese food here in Europe is pretty much an odd 'remix.' Here's a free tip: for Chinese food in Bucharest go to Hong-Kong. Trust me. [3] Thaï food. [4] Apricot ice-cream. Mmm! Relaxing Vacations? I don't have much of that, goddammit. I usually try to have an extra day or two during business trips — those are my vacations. But if I cumulate all the real vacations I had during the last 2-3 years I think I can come up with a list: [1] Strasbourg, [2] Oxford, [3] Cluj and [4] Amsterdam. You'll find pictures on this blog from each of those vacations. Browsing My browsing habits are mutating periodically and pinning them down it's anything but trivial. Still. I have an old, steady addiction to [1] versiontracker.com for about 9 or 10 years now, and also a fresher one for [2] engadget.com — because I love last-minute software and gizmos. Childish, I know, but I cannot help myself. Yes, immature. I'll mention here identityworks.com, businessweek.com/innovate and designobserver.com but they'll part of my job somehow so I'll not count those in. Skipping that, on third place would be [3] hotnews.ro, a useful TV and newspaper replacement and [4] Daypop.com for their Top 40 hot links with the bloggers. Dreaming Right now I would like to be in [1] any sunny place with temperature in excess of 30 degrees, preferably with a nice shore nearby because I'm not especially fond of winters or cold weather. Or [2] any place with enough skyscrapers — I'm such a sucker for massive chunks of concrete. A nice addition would be temperatures over 30 degrees and a shore nearby, of course. Also, I wouldn't mind [3] a cool dark place filled with smoke and excessively loud music, especially if outside temperature is over... The single most desirable place that has a name is [4] Hong Kong — it didn't happen during 2005, maybe this year, one can only hope. Tagging My unforgiving list comes as follows: the lady first, [1] Tina "I'll-never-ever-forget-the-massage-post" Romano; the wise expat [2] Doug "What's up in Laos" Muir; the ex-X-man [3] Antonio "We Blog" Eram and Saint Bernard's best friend [4] Frank "Fifteen Toes" O'Connor.
