Who is wise? He who learns from all men. -- Talmud

I've collected links on resources discussing current events with the goal of including the major players in the debate and other reasoned voices in online articles, books read, important Web sites, notable films, etc. The best information comes from review of source documents or from those directly involved. There is a lot of commentary masquerading as news or fact. As the war in Iraq looms large in news coverage, the American consciousness, and the U.S. budget, much of the information here deals with issues raised by the war. Note, book titles are linked to Amazon, which has mini-reviews in reader comments and often excerpts available "inside this book". Many items here have substantial citations. As I learn more, I modify the sections, adding links and comments. (If you are wondering who I am, I have a brief personal statement with some background and my outlook on politics.)

9/11, Middle East, Terrorism, and Policy
I link to books and articles that give much needed background on terrorism and its genesis leading up to the events of September 11, 2001, the events of that day, tributes, as well as policy discussion. I include brief descriptions of each and a link to Amazon or article Web sites. Sections include:
Issues of the War in Iraq, Including Abu Ghraib
I include a lot of information on this contentious war. Links to many articles from a wide variety of sources across the political spectrum:
Media, News, and Advocacy
You will find links to network and international/alternative news sites and left/liberal/progressive and right/conservative advocacy Web sites, as well as some humor. I also include links to a couple media watchdog groups covering both analysis of balance in news stories and media policy-making.
Democracy, Politics, Accountability, Language
Here are resources on democracy, electoral politics and accountability, including information on the language of issues and media coverage.
Domestic Issues
The last election had a smaller margin of victory than the Dewey-Truman presidential contest. None of the vote totals in the so-called red or blue states were unanimous. They were often very close. The country is divided. I want to become more informed on both sides of the issues listed here. Some of these issues have sub-sections.
Interesting Quotes on Politics and Current Issues
Reading about current events and issues of the day, one often comes upon quotes from scholars, politicians, and celebrities. I collect a few here. I add the newest to the bottom.
