Language and Alphabet

Greek has a unique alphabet and the upper case and lower case letters often differ. It's worth learning for reading signs, getting a better understanding of the language and pronunciation, etc. Some pronunciation guides and dictionaries will have words in transliterated spelling. i.e., Greek words spelled with Roman alphabet letters approximating pronunciation, a somewhat helpful but inexact method. Words can be spelled differently in different sources. I also used the Cortina Method "Modern Greek" conversation paperback and a small Berlitz book and CD package to familiarize myself with the language.
