Can you hear me now?

Every once in awhile I come across a cool new thing, and I have to share it. My new toy is a phone I got today. My business line is my cell phone. I have a Treo bluetooth compatible phone. One of the problems I come across is that I don't get cell phone reception in my house. So I found this new cool phone. What it does is connect to your cellphone via bluetooth. When someone calls my cellphone my HOUSE phone rings. Here's the cool thing. I push a button on my home phone and can call out on my cell phone from the HOME PHONE HANDSET. Now I can walk all over my house talking on my cell phone without ever loosing reception.

This is going to help me talk to clients as I run around looking for files or images on a computer. I can go up and downstairs and even though I am on my cellphone - it's not moving and not losing the signal.

You can read about the phone and see a picture here:

You hired a Professional - right?

So there is a new trend sweeping the area that I want to inform my brides of. Other wedding vendors showing up with Professional Gear to take pictures. There are a few problems with letting anyone with a camera taking pictures at your wedding. In my contract I have an exclusivity clause that states that I am the only person to be taking photos professionally. The problem with other vendors taking pictures is that guests at the wedding think they work for me. If another vendor is running around and taking photos you have 3 photographers running around. It's obtrusive (which isn't our style) it's annoying (which isn't our style) and it interferes with what we are trying to do; provide YOU with amazing pictures. We don't want to have to tell you we missed a shot because the DJ or videographer jumped in our way. We also worry that these vendors could trip or injure your guests. If they leave the wedding and then come back and say "we tripped over the photographer." That's a big problem. They were sure they tripped over the photographer, but they didn't realize they really tripped over the DJ. Legally, that can hurt us too.

I've also heard of vendors showing up with a big 40 inch screen and project THIER images on the screen. As I am sure you can understand we take pride in our work. Again, we don't want people to think that these vendors are with us. If they are taking sub par pictures that hurts us in the long run. People will ask me "did you take those" and then we have to say "no.." but sometimes people just assume. We also don't want their images to take away from OUR final product to you.

We ask that verify that your DJ's' and videographers will NOT be taking photos. It's not their job. They are there to make sure you have great music and amazing video. If they are running around taking pictures, they aren't doing what you hired them to do. Sometimes the vendors aren't telling clients they do this as an "added" bonus. We ask that you inquire and verify that they WILL NOT be taking photos. If you hear they will be, simply state that your photographer asks that other vendors aren't taking pictures and that we do have a clause stating we are to be the only photographers.

We appreciate everyone helping us with this problem. Although it sounds really cool to have "extra coverage" it's actually hindering what we do. I wouldn't show up with ipod and some speakers to your wedding to play DJ, I ask the DJ doesn't show up with a camera to play photographer.

6 Months with JJ

I am sure if you read my blog frequently you will remember JJ. Saturday I meet up with Chelsea and JJ to do his 6 month portrait. I can't believe he's 6 months old!!!!

We went to Brooksby Farm in Danvers Ma to capture him in a pumpkin patch. He was a good sport until we tried to put a halloween custom on him. :)

He has grown SO much! Pictures in chronological order.

Final Weddings of 2007

I had my last wedding of the season last night with Jessie and Mike. They got married at a church in Groton, and then had the wedding reception at the Harrington Farm in Princeton, MA. (images below) It was a beautiful fall day! I couldn't believe it was 48 degrees out!!
Before I post those images, I wanted to post Karolyn and Daniel's wedding images from last Sunday. They were married in Weymouth and then had the reception at Crown Colony Marriott in Quincy

Here are some of the images:

The flower girls walking down the aisle

I have no idea what her dad said to her - but whatever it was - was pretty funny!

The first dance.

I was SO thrilled to end on such a high note last night. I've been working with Jessie and Mike for awhile. I did their engagement pictures last fall at the Chelmsford Fire Station. Mike is a fireman. I just love these two together.
They are both so happy and in love!

Harrington Farm http://www.harringtonfarm.com was beautiful and perfect for a fall wedding. I got some great sunset images but I never ever post the best pictures from the day. These were the images I saw first.

Jessie's mom helping her with the buttons on her dress.

Jessie's dad walking her down the aisle. She was SUCH a pretty bride!!

Husband and wife! Finally!!!

Thank you to ALL my brides for 2007! I had such a wonderful amazing season. I hadi so many amazing couples that remind me why I love being married. Every-time I go to a wedding it reinforces why i love my husband and my job so much!!
Thank you for letting me have the best job in the world!!

I will still be shooting portraits for 2007, so be sure to get scheduled in!

Okay Okay! I'll update..

I've been getting some harassing phone calls to update my blog with more weddings from this weekend. I am sorry I am so behind! I did shoot 3 weddings which is a lot andI haven't even looked at the weddings yet. Well, I took a sneak peak...

These are from Chrissy and Matt's wedding on Sunday at Rachel's Lakeside in Dartmouth MA. My ankle is still broken, so I was lucky enough to have the very talented very sweet Erin Curran http://www.ecurranphoto.com shoot with me. She was an angel. She picked up my slack at the ceremony, because I "walk like a pirate" says Michelle Turner http://www.michelleturner.com :) . Thank you Erin!!!

I kept telling Matt that he should be a JCrew Model. He was great to work with, and I just love Chrissy and Matt as a couple!

After the ceremony at the Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven, MA

We had amazing light...

One more wedding to post after this one. Karolyn and Daniel are next. Be patient.

I also have one more wedding for the year on Friday! i am sooo excited to finish with Jessie and Mike! Their wedding will be at the Butterfield Farm in Princeton MA. It's a beautiful location.

Julie and Damian

Today I shot Julie and Damian in Newton MA. I still have the broken ankle so Michelle Turner from Michelle Turner Photography http://www.michelleturnerphotography.com was nice enough to come down from Maine and help me. If you haven't checked out her stuff, take a peak, it's phenominal. We had wonderful light, a wonderful couple and despite my broken ankle, it all went pretty well. A HUGE thank you to Michelle!!! You're the best!!

The wedding reception was held at the Boston Exchange Center in downtown Boston. A beautiful wonderful location.
Here are a few images from the day. Here are Julie and Damian seeing each other for the first time. They were the cutest couple! So in love and so affectionate to each other.

Then we went over to Newton City Hall for some pictures, this is probably my favorite shot from the day.
They were getting out of the car, and Damian leaned over and kissed Julie

Then we did some portraits:

Then we did the girls

and then we went off to the Boston Exchange Center on Fisherman's Pier down on Seaport Blvd.

I am so so behind in blogging this wedding. I have to apologize to Sharon and Paul. I didn't intentionally not blog it, i've just had this broken ankle and trying to navigate between two computers is hard.
I want to thank everyone for the emails, cards and well wishes. I truly appreciate it! So here is Sharon and Paul. They were married at the Westford Regency in Westford MA. I loved her dress. I wish more designers would add color to the wedding dresses!

These are a few of the images that I grabbed. The final images should be up this week.

A Little Emergency

Well, I know I've slacked on blogging, but I swear- I think I have a good reason. I broke my ankle.

It's okay. Well.. it could be worse. I wanted to wait to tell everyone on my blog so I could contact the brides it would impact. So the first question everyone asks is "So, how'd you do it?" Well, I was going for this really cool shot and balancing on one leg and I was really high up holding 2 cameras and I...... Okay- that's not true. None of it. The real story is really embarrassing and my brother in law told me not to tell anyone. First, you should all know in my family I am known as a walking disaster. I've always been clumsy. I always seem to hurt myself in the dumbest ways. My friends always wait because its always a matter of moments until my next injury.

Anyway- I was getting ready for Katie and Evan's wedding. My husband let our cat out and I was trying to get out the door to the wedding. I whistled for my cats (yes... they come running when I whistle). One of them showed up and then the other one decided to be a pain. I put on my shoes and walked around my building. I was about to walk down the grassy hill into the gully my cat hides and thought "I should take my shoes off so I don't slip." I took my shoes off and promptly slipped and snapped my ankle. I'll be fine. It's going to take 6 weeks to be perfect again. Now what kind of photographer would I be without a picture of it?? It's called a Spiral Fracture of t he Fibia. I broke my hip 6 years ago, and this hurts more in case you were wondering :)

So what happened to Katie and Evan's wedding on Saturday? Well, the wonderful and talented Todd Thamer http://www.thamerphotography.com/ stepped up and shot it. He was truly my hero. I don't know what I would have done had he not rescued me.
Needless to say I spent all of Saturday at Saints Medical Center.

The next question I get asked is "What happens to your upcoming brides?". Nothing. I've contacted all of them, and will have a second photographer as well as Seth with me to tug my bag along and carry cameras. I should be able to walk on it next week and thankfully I don't have any weddings this weekend. I am off to go hang out with Michelle Turner http://www.michelleturnerphotography.com while our husbands go hiking this weekend. Hiking was strictly prohibited by my doctor. I can't imagine why.

I'll try to post some pictures of my recent portrait session, but it's hard for me to post from the other computer when the network won't work. I am sitting on the couch in this position.

Busy Weekend

I am blogging a little out of order, but I'll put my wedding up tomorrow.

This weekend I had a wedding on Saturday in Westford at the Westford Regency. Sharon and Paul got married and are now on their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic.
Then on Sunday I had an engagement session and a head-shot session as well as tickets to the Red Sox/Yankees game. Needless to say today I am without a voice and exhausted.

Here are the pictures of Chrissy and Matt from their engagement session on Scussett Beach in Plymouth. They are getting married in October of this year.
We had a blast! Thanks guys for being such good sports!

This is a head=shot of Cathy from yesterday. She has great eyes!

Custom Cards for All Occassions

A lot of my clients don't realize that we do custom greeting cards for all occasions! With the holiday's approaching I thought it might be a good time to show some of the samples I've drawn up.

They can be in 4x5.5 or 5x7 Horizontal or Vertical. I really love designing these!! If you have an online gallery and want a card designed, just go in your gallery, find the image, click "Products" and find Thank you cards.
Then put a note in asking for a custom design. I'll draw up 4 designs for you to proof.

Great for Holiday Cards, Birth Announcements, Wedding Announcements, Save the Dates, and cards for all occasions!

Liz and Todd

I am very behind on blogging and I still want to try to get a few images of Sue and Keith up. I'll try to get to those tomorrow.

Saturday Liz and Todd where finally married after being together over 8 years. The interesting thing about Liz and Todd is that they lived in my dorm at UMass on the SAME floor. Although we didn't know each other I have friends that know them and we got hooked my pure coincidence.

The wedding was held at the Shaker Hill Golf Club in Ayer, MA http://www.shakerhills.com/. It's a beautiful location for an outdoor ceremony. Even with a few rumbles of thunder during the middle of the ceremony . We love Louis the wedding coordinator. We also had the pleasure of working with Al from All Star DJ http://www.getadj.com/. We've worked with a few of their DJ's and they always do a great job. NIce people in general!
Don't forget I have referrals of vendors I love over to the left of my blog. If you're searching for a vendor and don't know who to go with... check my list! If you get completely confused or mix reviews and still don't know, ask me. The best people to ask are people IN the wedding industry. I don't want to recommend anyone whose not going to be fun, respectful and make your day great. I don't receive anything for my referrals.

Here is Liz. She looked STUNNING.

Here is Todd as Liz came down the aisle...

Tag- Your it!

There is a game of tag going on amongst photographers all over the us and well, I guess I’ve been “tagged.”  First, I got an email from ShawnaK that I had been tagged (http://www.shawnakstudio.com/blog/), So now i have to write 8 things about myself that you (my blog readers) don't know about me..
1. I am some how related to Madonna (her great great grandfather and my great great grandfather were brothers) and my aunt looks JUST like her.
2. The name Cordele comes from my moms maiden name and my maiden name put together. It was thought up by my sister Joanna.
3. I have traveled to the following places: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Florida, California, Mexico, Italy, The Bahamas, and Bermuda.
4. I've never lived outside of Massachusetts but have lived in the following towns, Westwood, Harwich, West Dennis, Waltham, Andover, Chelmsford
5. I have a terrible fear of spiders in bags of grapes.
6. I am very technically savvy and can pick up any computer program and learn it in a matter of minutes.
7. My favorite shows are The Office, Biggest Loser, How I Met Your Mother (if you aren't watching this.. you have to start) CSI, Law and Order SVU.
8. Before I was a photographer I had dreams of moving to California and working for Steve Speilberg or George Lucus at Dreamworks or Industrial Light and Magic.
Okay . . .let’s see . . . who shall I tag?  How about:

Free Wedding by Jamison Wexler

My good friend and fantastic photographer Jamison Wexler (http://www.jamisonwexler.com) has an offer that I can't believe he is having trouble filling!!
Here is the deal. He wants to shoot a free wedding. Yes.. that's right FREE. If you know someone getting married, who might want a great photographer free, send them to Jamie! Here's what he wrote

"Every year I like to take on one wedding for free. I love the idea of being able to help out a couple who want to declare their love for one another, but don’t have the budget for a fancy affair at the Ritz… I try to make it a win-win affait, where I get to try something new or different in exchange for my services. Last year I was able to share in the wedding of Kadian & Jas - and got some really kick butt images for my portfolio from the firehouse where they got married: http://www.pbase.com/jamisonwexlerphoto/kadianjan This year I’d like to try something a little different. I currently use expensive high end professional digital bodies, lenses, and lights for all of the weddings I am hired to cover. I want to prove that it’s the photographer that makes the photos, not the tools he/she chooses to use. So for this year’s free wedding, I will be trading my usual kit for a very basic setup consisting of an entry level Canon Rebel XT, with an 18-55mm kit lens, a $70 50mm portrait lens, and a basic 420ex flash. That’s it. My goal is to produce stunning images with this humble setup and post my images and feelings here on the blog. So if you are getting married on one of the following weekends: November 17/18, 24/25, don’t have the budget for a professional wedding photographer, and live within 60 miles of my home in Grafton, MA, please contact me at freewedding@jamisonwexler.com. If selected, you will receive 6 hours of photographic coverage, and a CD containing approximately 200-300 color corrected high resolution digital files for you to make your own prints!"

Charlestown, MA Wedding

We had a very busy weekend!! On Saturday, we shot a wedding at the Taj Hotel in downtown Boston. On Sunday our good friends Jill and Mike got married at the Commandants House in Charlestown MA (http://www.commandantshouse.com/) It's located in the Charlestown Navy Yard. One of the best hidden locations in Boston for a wedding reception!!

Here are some pictures from the wedding. We had a blast. It wasn't a working wedding, but I of course can't resist being the photographer friend. (Don't worry, the photographer was okay with me shooting)

The Church...

The Bride

My favorite shot of the day. Jill just "hanging out" waiting for the trolley to come back.

The first dance as husband and wife.

The dip....

The flowers they did themselves...

Their kids... "Finnley and Lucy" stopped by on their nightly walk..

Old Ironsides at Sunset. For those who don't know, it's also known as the USS CONSTITUTION. It's is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the
world - "commissioned" meaning it is an active duty Navy warship. It's over 200 years old. At sundown, they have the "Colors" ceremony. They take the American flag down, while playing (I forget the song) on a trumpet. and then fire off one of the original canons on board. It's an amazing site. it's also a scary noise if you aren't expecting it :)

Taj Hotel Boston

Today's wedding was at the Taj Hotel in Boston. Sue and Keith were married at the church right next door to the Taj. It was SUCH a beautiful, but hot, day! The ceremony was wonderful, Sue looked amazing and Keith was just as handsome. The Taj had one of the nicest staffs I've ever seen. I had the best second shooter with me today Lauren from http://www.cadencephotography.com She flew up from Tampa, and did such an amazing job!

I only have a few minutes before I go to bed, and won't have time to post tomorrow at all. I wanted to post a shot for Sue and Keith before they left on their Boston to Bermuda cruise! I will post a few more shots, but this is just a sneak peek.

We walked around the Boston Public Gardens to get some shoots. Here's a quick one I grabbed on the bride.

We now love shooting weddings at the Taj! It was so incredibly beautiful. The light was fantastic and the day was just all around wonderful.
Check back Monday for more shots. Tomorrow my friend Jill is getting married! I'll be there... and I am sure I'll have a shot or two from the wedding.

Holiday Deadlines

Yes... that's right HOLIDAY DEADLINES. (Lynne's Wedding pictures will be posted later today)

Please note, I am posting this on my blog, and sending out an email as well. there will be NO EXCUSES accepted why you HAVE to have a rush order done. I love you all - seriously, but procrastination makes Alicia very cranky! This policy is also posted in my Policies section on the back end of my shopping cart. PLEASE READ THIS:

Deadlines:
To receive your album by December 25 - get your favorites selections in by October 1 (no charge)
Favorites received after October 1-14 ($100.00 surcharge)
Favorites received after October 15-30th ($250.00 surcharge)
Favorites received on/after October 30th will not be looked at until after New Years.

Holiday rush is a horrible time for us.  If you are cutting it close, we are probably cutting it closer.   Please try to think ahead and get your print orders in before Thanksgiving.  All PRINT Rush Orders between December 15-20 will be hit with a $50.00 surcharge.  Last year we spent Christmas Eve delivering prints and it made for a really stressful holiday, I think I cried once or twice. People (i.e. clients) seem to get stressed too and yell at me.  This year’s policy- NO YELLING AT THE PHOTOGRAPHER. Anyone that yells at me gets a complimentary piece of coal packaged in with their print. :)
If you do place an order after December 15th IT CANNOT BE MAILED. There is NO mailing. "Can you Fed Ex it?” No. No begging, pleading, or threatening.  The Answer is, NO.  We had lost packages and missing holiday gifts last year, and I do not want to ruin someone’s holiday by you not having a gift. If you order late, have a friend stop by the studio and grab it.  POINT:  We love you guys, but please get your print orders in by December 1 and album orders in by October 1. I will be turning off the ability to purchase albums online after October 30th. You will only be able to buy prints. After December 15th I will be turning off the ability to buy those as well.

Amazing Flip Flop Alerts

I know, this post has NOTHING to do with photography but it's my blog and I am so thrilled with my new flip flops I had to tell everyone.

I use to be a BIG fan of the adidas flip flops with the little rubber things that massaged your feet while you walked. Then I started finding those little rubber things all over my house, and had to throw them away.
I've been in search of a new pair of comfy flip flops that weren't just flat and way to thin. Those hurt my knees after an hour. Well, I can say "I found them."

I present to you my new amazing flip flops by Chadwicks

Here's the link Flip Flop Link
They come in all sorts of colors and right now they are on sale for 6.99!! I have a pair in the black, but I think I might get a pair in pink too. For 6.99 you can't go wrong!
Here's the link. I promise - you will love these. They are a bit smooshy when you walk, so it's not a hard step. The thong part on the foot doesn't pinch your toe.

You just have to get them, and then report back to me how much you LOVE them too :) Hurry! Sale ends soon.

I had a senior portrait session yesterday in Chelmsford, and I'll be posting pictures later. I also have a wedding at the Daversport Yacht Club tomorrow for Lynne and Mike! I am so excited about their wedding.

Boston Harbor Hotel Wedding

This past Saturday I got to witness the marriage of a such wonderful love.

Lauren and Dan had their wedding at the Boston Harbor Hotel in Downtown Boston. Their love story is so unique, I have to tell it. Dan and Lauren meet at Border Cafe. Dan, walked up to Lauren who was sitting with a group of guys and said "I don't know if you're dating anyone... but I had to come over and tell you you're beautiful; and if you're not dating anyone.. I'd love to take you out" as they say.. the rest is history. Now forgive me if I got the exact phrase wrong. I was shocked by the story. How many guys have the guts to do that in front of a group of guys he doesn't know??
With that said, this was one of the most heartfelt weddings I've ever photographed. There were tears, and love and a few small disasters. If you find some wedding vows floating in Boston Harbor.. let me know.

Here are a few wedding pictures from outside the Boston Harbor.

Lauren on the phone with Dan a few hours before the ceremony.

Lauren relaxing before the wedding

A Portrait...

Lauren walking down along the wharf at the Boston Harbor Hotel. I love this shot. It's like time stood still as she walked to see Dan

Dan seeing Lauren for the first time

Lauren Seeing Dan (if you look close you'll see tears of sheer love)

It was a blast and I only with everyone could have experience the love they have. They are off to a 3 week honeymoon.

This is the Thank you card we designed for them. The wedding theme was boats, so we thought this was cute
A lot of people don't know we custom design all thank you cards that go out. I have a new graphic designer Lindsey who comes up with some really fun unique designs!

Another Baby Session With Jim, Chelsea and JJ

I love doing these Baby Stages Packages because I get to watch these little one's grow! It's so amazing to see JJ every three months and see how much he's changed in such a short time. Last time I saw him he was a newborn just able to see color. Now he's so aware of everything around him. He was easily distracted because there was so much going on in the park. He's SO cute. We shot these in a park in Beverly. We actually got stopped by another family expecting their new addition asking about photography. They were happy to know we do portrait photography in and around Boston. We also like to remind people that schleping the kids to the mall is hard work, and it's easier to bring the photographer to you!

Here is JJ at 3 months...

and the family picture! Jim and Chelsea and JJ are such a wonderful little family. I am so lucky I get to do their family portraits!

I have a new referral program and you get to be a part of it! I do this with Senior Portraits and the kids love it. I thought I would extend it to all my clients!

So how do you get free itunes?? Send me clients!

Anyone that contacts and books me, who gives me YOUR name- gets YOU free itunes. You get the itunes gift code via email on the day of their session.
Cool huh? Hang on... This isn't one of those emails where you forward this to your friend and they forward it and nothing happens.
This is legit. Go ahead, tell your friends! They are eligible too!

How much do you get per referral?

Senior Portraits 10.00 itunes gift card
Family Portrait 20.00 itunes gift card
Wedding Clients 30.00 itunes gift card * If they book my top package, I'll actually buy you a new ipod. (although you don't get it until after the wedding)
*For wedding referrals they have to BOOK, but to get the itunes, I just need them to give a retainer and sign a contract for you to get your loot.

There is NO limit to the amount of itunes you can get. If you don't have an ipod, we give out Dunkin Donuts gift cards too!

More of Amy

Since I didn't have a wedding this past weekend, I thought I'd show more images from Amy's senior portrait session. I have weddings starting back up August 4, so I'll be back with wedding pictures and kondeitermister cake pictures!

Also, a few weeks back I had one of my favorite images framed. This is an image of the Gibbett HIll Farm in Groton MA. I had shot a wedding there last year and finally got around to framing an image.
I ended up loving it so much I actually gave it to the owners.

This isn't the exact print, but one very much like it. The Gibbett Hill is such a pretty place for a wedding!

Senior Session

Monday I had a wonderful Senior Portrait Session with Amy, Amy is a junior going into her Senior year this fall! I was so excited to have the oppurtunity to work with her. I love shooting senior portraits and I don't get to do them often. In Massachusetts there are bigger studios that do them for the schools. The nice thing about having a private photographer do them is you get to use various locations and props. With Amy, we did her senior portraits at an ice skating rink. We did all the outside shots at the outside of the rink.

Cd Cover Shoot

For the month of July, I don't have a single wedding! I am excited to have the time off, and recharge. I do have portraits shoots schedule so I'll be posting those!

On Friday I had two shoots. I had a CD cover shoot and a senior shoot. I'll post the senior shoot in a little while. Here are a few of my favorite shots from Libny's shoot.

MMS Dot Com

Everytime I see the M&M commercial "there is an m&m in everyone" I always mean to blog about it! I just saw the commercial, so I thought I'd post MY inner M&M

I see a striking resemblance....a little green... a little round... holding a camera :)

I had two shoots on Friday, I'll be back with images later on today.

Children's Photography

Back in April my sister dropped off my nephews for a sleep over at Auntie Lici and Uncle Seth's place. I completely forgot I snapped a few images of the boys being boys.
I love shooting children's photography, because kids have such real emotion that they aren't afraid to express. A lot of people don't realize that I shoot children's photography in an around Boston.

Here are my nephews; they know when they come over the camera is coming out! I love this shot, he was being SO funny. His shirt was dead on. He was totally unstoppable that night!

Mac love... I've taught them well. They were updating and feeding their webkinz'.

The boys being boys right before bed time. I have no idea what they were doing but they thought they were funny...

Also- please note, if you were waiting for an album to come back in- all albums have come in. I've sent emails to everyone. Sara and Lauren you're albums are in!

How I spent my summer vacation

I've been on vacation all week! I love vacation and I vowed not to turn the computer on once, not even for a second. BUT- I did want to blog and let everyone know I am still alive, and have been a vegetable all week. On Monday night we drove down to Seth's parents home in Plymouth, MA and hung out there until yesterday. We went to the beach, worked on the tan and Seth helped with a time honored family tradition. Building the bonfire pit down on the beach. Now, he's going to hurt me later for posting his pasty pail picture on my blog, but oh well.... :) It's a bit blurry, but Seth and I started officially dating on July 3rd years ago. Each year, groups of people gather wood from lumber yards and family to stock up for the annual July 3rd Bonfire Beach Party. Unofficially I heard Maxim Magazine called it the number 5 place to spend the 4th of July. Now the beach we actually hang out on isn't the exact beach, but I am pretty sure its a better party. Most of the land is privately owned and the stairs down to the beach are private too. We went down and I sat and listened to my ipod and Seth (who can't sit still) decided to pitch in and dig the pit and haul some wood. It's an incredible site once all the fires are lit (there are about 15 built in all ) and it's a unique event. We didn't stay for the fires, but instead drove into Plymouth Center to see our good friend Steve play in his band Beachfront Property. We bumped into some of Seth's old high school friends and really just enjoyed being on vacation! These were taking with my point and shoot and no effort was made to enhance them, not even a little. Remember, I am on vacation! No Photoshop for me.

Tomorrow Seth and I are heading up North to go hiking.

CODMAN ESTATE WEDDING

I just finished editing my May 27 wedding from the Codman Estate Wedding. Stephanie and Adam are SO in love. It was completely infectious. Below are some of my favorite images from the wedding. They are sized smaller than normal, because I pulled these out of my proofing folder. If you are looking to view Stephanie and Adams wedding, please go to my main site www.cordelephotography.com click ONLINE IMAGES, find Stephanie and Adam and enter Adams Last name in lower case.

Also, I have one more wedding in June and then I am off ALL of July. I'll be posting images of past wedding images, album pages and maybe a day after portrait session with a bride or two. (Yes a trash the dress session... but not really )

I love this shot. Adam kissing his tallit (prayer shawl)

Big Old Entry...

I've been really busy, running around shoot weddings and engagement sessions and going to my own friends weddings.

This past weekend, my friend Ashley got married at Sacred Heart in North Square. It's an amazing church, and they had a very small very intimate wedding. Only a few close friends and family were invited.
Here are J.R. and Ashley

I also wanted to post images from an engagement shoot I did at a UMass Amherst a week ago.
Liz and Todd getting married 9.8.07..

I also wanted to clarify the Trash the Dress session Massachusetts style. There has been a lot of chatter online and on T.V. lately about trash your wedding dress sessions. It's really not what it sounds like, at least not for me. What I love to do is get the bride back in her dress and have a portrait session in a unique location. I don't run out to ruin the dress, but we go to some cool locations (i.e a junk yard) and the bride is basically a model for a day. If you loved having yoru dress on and wanted some cool bridal portraits- this is for you. Most the time the dress gets a little dirty. Not even very dirty. You take it to the dry cleaners and it's all better. I don't want any one to completely ruin their dress. If you remember back in the 80's brides use to go to the photo studio before the wedding. This is a bridal session AFTER the wedding. If you wanted to do some funky shots and put your dress back and lets go! I've attached a few more images from my session in the junk yard.

Trash the dress.. it's not just for people in California ;)

Trash Your Dress

I offer something that few people realize, called "trash your dress". What is it? Well, it's exactly what it sounds like. You put back on your wedding dress,, find an ultra cool location and have a little fun. We have you basically do anything (including swim, lay, jump sit, swing, run, roll and climb) in your wedding dress with no regard for how dirty we get it!! Today, I had the pleasure of shooting with Jay Philbrick of Philbrick Photography www.philbrickphoto.com and Michelle Turner of Michelle Turner Photography www.michelleturnerphotography.com (My favorite destination wedding photographer) up in North Conway, NH. We found a couple of brides willing to do just about anything for us.

I've always wanted to shoot in a junk yard, and today I finally had the chance. We had so much fun! If this sounds like something you'd like to do give me a call!! We can go anywhere you can think of. Abandoned houses, burned down houses, farms, junk yards, grocery stores...

If you don't want to get your dress dirty- you can wear mine. Seriously. It's for a a girl 5'4-5'7 135-145 pounds. I've lent it out before, and would be willing to lend it out again. I had the other bride laying in a burn down old house. When I brought it into the cleaners, I thought the women behind the counter was going to faint from shock. It was THAT dirty, but they got every stain out!! Today's shoot was different and the girls were really willing to do anything for me... I think the pictures speak for themselves...

I have more images, these are just the ones I grabbed first. I'll post more in the next couple days. Enjoy!!

The last 2 are my favorite...

June Weddings Kick off!

Tonight I had an amazing wedding. 236 people invited, an amazing wedding party... and a couple that just makes you smile when you see them together.. Tonight, I was with Nicole and David. They've been dating 7 years and tonight they are officially husband and wife. They are off to a wonderful honeymoon in Hawaii. The wedding party really just made me feel so welcome and we had a lot of fun. Even thought it was HOT out, I didn't hear anyone complaining. The guys were SUCH good sports and the girls were just so willing to do anything!! Thanks you guys!! I felt like one of the family. I also had the assistance today of Jill Kursokowski from Strut Photography. Jill is the best, and SUCH a trooper to put up with a heat on her day off. Thanks for your help Jill!!

Nicole and David were married at the Newton Marriot on Comm Ave.

Below are a few quick grabs. Nicole receives the award for fastest run down the aisle.
This shot below caught my eye, because if you look in the distance you'll see the bride and her dad getting ready to come down the aisle.

Westin Waterfront

Today, I had the wonderful task of photographing Heather and Mike at the Westin Waterfront in Downtown Boston. Beautiful location, and since it was pretty hot out, the bride requested we stay inside for pictures.
Thankfully, they had some GREAT spots for photos. They really had a lot of endless areas to shoot.
I have another wedding tomorrow at the Codman Estate that I am looking forward to. I love shooting down there. It's beautiful! Check back tomorrow night!

Rock Star

I have had a hard time keeping up with editing this week due to the 3 thunderstorms that have moved through the area. I had to unplug everything as to not fry computers or a back up drives.
Today was able to finally post the pictures from Francesca Reggio's cd cover/promo shoot. Her site is http://www.francescareggio.com so be sure to stop by! We had this shoot scheduled since January and I was so excited to do something different!

Here are a few of my favorites. I have to give a shout out to my sister Joanna. She was our location scout for this shoot. She gave us a fantastic place to shoot in Downtown, including the roof of her house! My favorite shots are from the old draw bridge that they no longer use, but cost to much to rip down, so they left it up. Enjoy! Thanks Jo!

Wedding Crashers..

One of my new favorite guilty pleasures is the show "Wedding Crashers". This show cracks me up. Part of it has to do with the fact that I am a wedding photographer and the other part is just because its so off the wall funny. Real wedding crashers happen more than people think. If you get married at a big hotel, a random hotel guest will probably come down and help themselves to your cocktail hour snacks.
So being a wedding photographer you have to ask "Have I ever actually had wedding crashers at any of my weddings?"
The answer : Yes,

It's a really funny story that I've been dying for an excuse to blog. I won't say what wedding it was at but it's a story that's going to be in my someday book of crazy things that happen at weddings.

I was busy shooting the reception and this older lady came up to me and said "Excuse me... can you tell me, this party... what' is it for?" I stopped and looked at her and said "excuse me?" She said, "All the music and dancing, what's it all about?" I said, "well, It's a wedding reception". She turns, takes a swig from her glass of wine(from the open bar) and says "A Wedding- WOW!! We are having SUCH a good time".

Then she wandered off to the dance floor with her friend to join in. It was probably the funniest encounter with a wedding crasher. Now you have to ask.. Did I get a picture of the wedding crashers. Of course I did, and I am SURE the bride and groom were wondering "who the heck are these people." Here you go. Real live wedding crashers:

See the laughter.. and the smiles... and the wine. The bride was having a great time dancing with them, and no one seem to notice who they were. (Forgive the quality, the women in pink is in focus, but she turned before I got her face..)

Long over due Blog

I have had one of the busiest months in a long time!! I've been bad about keeping up with blogging and so here is my catch up post. Yesterday I had two family shoots. One was with the Dow Family and the other with Jim and Chelsea (who I did maternity shots of a few weeks back). Chelsea and Jim had a healthy baby boy that they named James. They call him JJ for short. Here he is! This is from his Newborn Session.

Here is one of his portraits

Then last night, Jim and Chelsea came over to finish there session and do a quick family portrait.
Here are a few :

a quick family portrait...

During the afternoon yesterday, I meet up with the Dow Family to chase their little one's around. Here are Luke and Jack.. two of the cutest most active children I've photographed in a long time!

Then Jack put on a concert for us..

He stopped to sing the alphabet for me...

and somehow we got every calm enough for a quick family picture.

A few weeks ago I also did an engagement session for a fellow photographer Sally and Johnny

Shout Out!

I want to give a big old Congratulations to my favorite destination wedding photographer. Michelle Turner, (www.michelleturner.com) was recently approached to write a book on photography. She's a fantastic photographer and the book will be really be great! I don't have all the details but I'll post them when I find out. If you're planning a destination wedding and you dare to skip over me, i'll be okay if you hire Michelle! Her stuff ROCKS! She gets to shoot in some of the most exotic locations in the world. She's also fluent in Spanish which helps in Mexico. Congratulations Michelle!!

I had corporate shoot today with a Cosmetic Surgery Device company called Cynosure. It was for the annual report. Although the President is a Yankees fan, I didn't hold it against him.

Well, they are looking for brides and grooms to have on the show. If you're over come with the details... click here Whose Wedding and have them help you out!

Text from the site
"The Style Network is currently casting for the sixth season of Whose Wedding Is It Anyway? Looking for couples with our without a planner, who want to share their wedding-preparation adventures with the hit prime-time wedding series!

Tara and Justin

An interesting article I found today. Viacom is suing YouTube for copyright infringement. Copyright infringement is a big sticking point with me and a lot of photographers out there. Copyright Protection is there to protect artists and people who spend their time and money creating original works. If people take TV shows off YouTube and watch them, instead of buying them (or download them and then sell them)... the people that took the the time to create that original work lose money. Instead of you running to the store to buy the show on DVD - you took it free. That's stealing. If people take images off my blog, and run and print them as an 8x10, first- it's going to look horrible, and second... it's stealing and against copyright laws. Based on the fact that photographers make their living off selling photographs, it's a big deal when someone takes a print off a blog and prints it up.

You may think "well... for a big movie company.. it's not a big deal", but it is a big deal. They have bills to pay, and they deserve credit for their work. Anytime you post an image that you don't own (even if you have the disc of images), or you watch something on You tube that you shouldn't be able to view - you're breaking the law.
End result... Viacom has the right to sue. YouTube is hosting copyrighted work, and allowing people to post it online without permission. To read the article go here http://www.boston.com/business/technology/articles/2007/03/13/viacom_sues_youtube_over_copyrights/

I am just finishing up editting Tara and Justin's wedding. I really fell in love with this image.

Photography Myths Uncovered

Being a wedding photographer I hear some CRAZY things about my industry. Things like "Being a photographer is the easiest job in the world - you just turn the camera on and it does everything". I will be honest. It was a videographer that said that to me. I practically spit my drink at him. I also hear things like "well why is it SO expensive to hire a photographer? You only work 8 hours." Truth be told, I actually work from 60-75 hours on one wedding. There are so many myths and fallacies surround wedding photographer, I was so happy when I had the opportunity to be part of something that will nip them in the bud! A while back, a photographers forum I belong to offered to put together an FAQ for bride's and grooms to read. It covered the issues of wedding photography, myths, questions and concerns fro brides and grooms. All the answers to the questions were provided by professional wedding photographers. I hope you will all take the time to go read the questions and answers, and educate yourself on the myths that surround wedding photography. To view the FAQ please go to www.wedfog.com Here you will see honest CORRECT answers about wedding photography. Please feel free to past this link around!!

Here is an image from Tara and Justin's Tuesday night wedding. Something a little different from me.

Josh Groban

For Christmas my oldest sister bought me a ticket to go see Josh Groban. If you have never heard him sing, you're missing out!! He has an incrediable voice. A lot of brides might know him for the song "You Raise Me Up" which is a common father daughter dance. His new album Awake is amazing! His second track "Don't Give up" is a great song. He opened with it at the Garden on Friday night. Below is a just a snip it from the concert live. I brought my point and shoot camera which can double as a camcorder at times. (For those wanting to know what a Pro shoots with... its the Canon SD400. I have had it for about a year and it takes amazing images)

I'll be better about blogging I promise. I have just had a lot going on. Last night I had a Cystic Fibrosis Benefit Event. They hold what's called "Casino Night" and they have Black Jack tables and Rolette. Both my sisters have Cystic Fibrosis, so it's a cause that's close to my heart. I also donate a portrait session to the silent action for people to bid on. The opening bid was to open at 250.... and someone put in the starting bid at 350.00. I am looking forward to their shoot! To learn more about Cystic Fibrosis please visit www.cff.org. Look for a sale in the next month where we are slashing prices on all images and donating all proceeds to Cystic Fibrosis.

Also, for those that read my blog through the RSS feature. I have no idea why each day it says I have posted a new blog entry. I read blogs through RSS and on my Safari reader it tells me each day I've updated my blog with 10 new entries. Obviously that's not correct :) .

To view a snip it of Josh Live go here (copy and paste link) www.cordelephotography.com/Movies/MVI_0328.AVI
You might have to let it stream a bit. It's 64MB. My computer had a hard time digesting it. :)

Last night I had the wonderful task of shooting an off beat wedding. Tara and Justin got married at the Stonehedge Inn In Tynsgboro. It was a wonderful small intimate wedding. They were so in love.

Old Wedding Pictures

I have been working on processing wedding albums the last couple weeks. I just finished up putting the draft together of Laurie and Jarrad's album from their October wedding.
They had such a great day and wonderful light to work with! This is one of the many favorite images I have from their wedding.

Tampa Florida

This past week I wasn't very good at blogging, because I was down in Tampa Florida visiting my cousin and meeting up with one of my 2007 brides. More on that later.

I wanted to let everyone know that I am no longer going to offer DVDs with wedding photography packages. I am now offering all your images on a USB jump drive. Most wedding images I give total less than 2 gigs when I am done editing them. I have found a source that makes using USB drives virtually equal in price to the DVDs I was giving. The USB drives will allow almost anyone to read the images. I have had issues with people viewing the images on DVD. I have tried giving images away on USB and have a good response to it. I will now make it the way for all future weddings. Some people won't have a computer that can read a USB drive, so If you would like to still receive the DVD instead of a USB jump drive, please let me know

I am heading back down to Tampa to shoot a wedding in April and I am very excited. I didn't take a lot of pictures while I was in Florida because a) I didn't bring my camera and b) I was on vacation. I did have my point and shoot while I went to visit some family. My cousin owns a very large Bullmasteif and he's the cutest dog. I am a huge dog lover. Here are some pictures of Bully. He's ENORMOUS. He weighs 130 pounds which is the same weight as much as my husband Seth to put it in perspective.

Brrrr

The last few days it's been around 4 to 15 degrees outside. I woke up this morning to snow.

I decided to spice up my blog with some beach shots. Spring isn't THAT far away....
These are from the model shoot I did this summer, you'll see these pop up on my blog from time to time when I haven't been out shooting anything new. I have hundreds of shots of these girls that I did for a calendar.
I never did much with them, but they spice up the blog a bit.

Bermuda

Back in August, my husband and I went to Bermuda to celebrate our anniversary. We took a cruise from Boston and spent a week walking around the Island. I never got any of my own images editted until today!
I thought i would post them on my blog. The colors in Bermuda are amazing, and I loved it there. I hope to go back sometime soon!

This is St. Peters Church. The oldest Church on the Island. It was so cute inside.

Behind St. Peters is a cemetery with some of the original founders of Bermuda .

The old rectory behind St. Peters.

The door knob on the back of the church

A gate on a building

The shutters that people close up at night and during storms to protect their homes.

Horseneck Beach - which is a beautiful amazing beach!

The Ship we took to Bermuda

The palm trees at the entrance to the underground caves

We stopped at the Swizzle in for a Rum Swizzle.... they were YUMMY!

Town Hall from the ship

A festival in the center of town.

If your looking for a great relaxing vacation, I can't say enough good things about our vacation to Bermuda. It was SO much fun!

Anticipation

One of my favorite shots to get at a wedding is the shot of the bride and her dad, or just the look on her face as she is about to go down the aisle.
This year, I shot a wedding at a unique church, where there was no true lobby, just stairs to the top of the aisle. This is my favorite image from 2006.
I also have a great shot of the high jump from yesterdays track meet. One of the girls jumped 5FT 9 Inches, which is one of the best jumps for a girl in the country.

Save the Dates

I recently had one of my favorite couples Jessie and Mike ask me to design their "Save the Date" card. I personally LOVED their engagement pictures. We went down to the local fire house, and had a little fun crawling on the fire truck. Along with STD cards another element we can design are custom Thank you cards. If you haven't thought about what you're going to do "after" the wedding for Thank You cards, you can also have one custom designed.

To view all their STD designs (I made 8 for them) please go here: www.cordelephotography.com/Jessie(case sensative)

Here is one of my personal favs! How cute are they together??

I love the colors and the feel of this card.

MSTCA RELAYS

Okay all you high school Juniors! I know you're out there! I am looking for a couple models.. for FREE High School SENIOR portraits. It would be more like a fashion shoot, we'd have outfit changes, location changes etc.
If you are interested. Please shoot me an email to cordelelphotography at mac.com (sorry to break it up... don't want to get anymore spam than I already get!) If you are a parent, and want to take advantage of this offer, please let me know!!

I am getting this weekend MSTCA RELAY pictures up right now. They will all be up Monday- so PLEASE - be patient with me. I have over 5000 images to put up.

I have to give a huge shout out to the two high jump boys. One one from Lexington MA and one from Framingham, and Lexington beat the meet record for his jump- the old record was something like 6" 8" and 3/4 (yes... 6 feet 8..) but that was nothing for Lexingtons high jumper- who jumped 6'3 like he had wings. Then he cleared 6ft 5inches... and he cleared 6 '7 and cleared 6" 9 ... He then went for 7, but missed and I posted that image below. Watching these two guys jump was amazing.

Here he is trying for 7 feet.

This is Christine and Patrick from back in November. We had their engagement session down at Great Brook Farm in Chelmsford.

My first wedding for 2007 is going to be in Florida in Leigh Arches. With the reception in the Fort Meyers area. I am also off for a vacation at the end of them month to Tampa Florida. I can't wait!

New New and New!

I am so excited, 2007 has brought some great things for Cordele Photography!
My husband and I finally traded in our commuting car (Toyota Corrolla) for the Nissan Murano. I LOVE it. It's the best SUV ever. We looked at a variety of cars and trucks and this one fit our needs the best. I'll try to post pictures soon.

Also, I finally got around to getting the Canon 5D and a new lens for it. I put off getting it for a variety of reasons, but Canon was having a huge rebate sale so I went for it. I think I am in love.
Just so those photographers that read my blog. Here you go- 3200 ISO, 40th of a second, at f2.8 with the 100M Macro. No flash. I was doing some test shots.
Go ahead---download it- zoom in- I dare you. Noise- what noise?

I am also happy to announce a new consulting service for photographers. Lately, I've been getting a slew of calls to help set up Quickbooks.
If you are a photographer, and you need help, I charge 75.00 to help you set it up PROPERLY. There is nothing worse than setting it up, and than having to untangle a huge mess at Tax time.

Give me a call or an email and i'll help you out!

Week in Philly!

Cordele Photography is official closed for the week. I am currently on vacation with friends in Philadelphia. All print orders and albums will be attended to next week.
Before going on vacation I had a portrait shoot with 3 of the most energetic kids. I am having problems getting the images to load, so I will have to wait until i get home to post them.

Also, I wanted to give a shout out to a new website I discovered. Good Readz</a> It's a great place for people who read a lot of books, or want to know about books. Make sure to check it out.
It's new and a pretty nice place. I can never decide what book to read next, and this site gives some great recommendations and reviews.

Portraits and Track Meets

I was so happy to be finished editing all my weddings and portrait sessions I wasn't quite sure what to do with myself. So I went out yesterday and shot a track meet for the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association.
My brother in law has a huge part in track and cross country in the state, so he asked if I would take up shooting the events for the kids. I love taking pictures, so I said "sure". I am not a sports photographer by any means, so it was a bit of a challenge and something I am hoping to really get better at over the winter. Those kids run fast!! The images from Saturday's even are posted now, and Sundays event (shot by my husband Seth) will be up tomorrow.

I also had a portrait session today in Littleton MA. A lot of people have given up the mall photography route and started hiring private photographers to come to their home and capture their little one's in their own space.
This little girl had to have the most beautiful eyes I've seen in awhile. Look at those eyelashes!

BUSY WEEKEND

This weekend I had no weddings and no portrait sessions. I am done shooting weddings for awhile. I ended up in Plymouth MA for the Plymouth South High School Ten Year Reunion. While in Plymouth we stopped by the famous Plymouth parade. This year they ended up bringing in the Budweiser Clydesdale Horses. They are so beautiful and it was so amazing to see them in person. They opened up the parade with a surprise fly over with 2 F-16 figher jets. They flew about .5 miles off the ground and they were REALLY loud.

They had a tribute float to Plymouth and celebrated 400 years of being a town.

I found this image really really funny.

Uncle Sam on Stilts.

On our way out we walked by this jeep, and my husband and I are still trying to figure out what to make of this. If some little girl is looking for her Barbie, I think I found her.

Then we headed over to my nieces house to play with her. She LOVES her slide.

That's it! The last wedding of the season was last night! 25 weddings and I ended with such an awesome wedding.
Matt and Becky got married last night in Chelmsford, MA and then had their wedding at Sky Meadow Country Club. The wedding was beautiful, the location amazing and the couple, so happy and in love! Today, I am out of the office and on my way to Foxwoods Resort and Casino to celebrate. I am allowed a day off once and awhile- aren't i?

Here is an image from Becky's wedding. These are her flowers, with a locket with images of her mom.

Also, Corinn and Matt's wedding from october 7 has been posted. here is one of my favorite images from that wedding at the Chelmsford Radison. This is her dad about to give her away.

Shotgun Wedding... Sort of.

A local group of photographers and I went out in the woods this weekend. Lisa Rae (www.lisarae.com) another local photographer. She volunteered to do just about anything for us. We did some portraits for her -the bride to be. Then we switched dresses for a little more fun in the woods. The images are meant to be a little different and a little darker. They are not meant to make a statement or offend anyone. The session was inspiration from another photographer (www.altf.com) This is also the equivalent of a "Lets do it again" session. Where you TRASH your wedding dress, with no regard for dirt. We were in a burned down house, with soot and dirt. I actually took the dress to the cleaners and they guaranteed they could get the soot out!

Wedding images

This weekend I had a family shoot, a Wedding and a personal shoot.
The images from the family shoot will be posted tomorrow.

The wedding took place at the Cafe Escadrille in Burlington, MA
It was a night wedding and the bride was really hoping to have some outdoor shots, but her wedding was at night. I think she still got what she wanted!

Then I had a personal shoot. A couple Local photographers and I went into the woods of Grafton MA to do some "Let's do it Again" Session. You know- Do stuff in your wedding dress that you wouldn't dare do the day of your wedding. Let me just say this... The dress was filthy by the time we were done with this bride... and it was totally worth it. More from this session to come.

This weekend along with the wedding and 2 engagement shoots, I had a a family shoot with Melissa, Steve and Dominic
This is Dominic. 4 months old and interested in everything but me!

He was one cute little kid!

One thing that I have to bring up is the tv show LOST. I think I finally figured it out... there not LOST---- we are... because I know I totally am lost. I don't get it anymore. It use to make some semblance of sense....
I am so frustrated. I've moved on to Heros. At least they throw you a bone every once in awhile.
By the way- if you LOVE LOST, you MUST MUST MUST read this blog. Go-- right now. No, don't stop... GO! The LOST Blog

Fall in New England means changing leaves and the busy season for me! I had a wedding, 2 engagement pictures and a family portrait this weekend. The leaves just changed making for some great colors!
I had an engagement shoot at an Apple Orchard on Sunday and it was a great day for it!
Lee and Jen, they are SO cute. I am photographing Lee's sister's wedding in a few weeks.

Then I had Lynne and Mike. I love clients willing to try anything for a picture! This tree was enormous! I would have to say it was at least 300 years old, if not older.
No trees were harmed in the photographing of these two :) I promise.
