Can you hear me now?

Every once in awhile I come across a cool new thing, and I have to share it. My new toy is a phone I got today. My business line is my cell phone. I have a Treo bluetooth compatible phone. One of the problems I come across is that I don't get cell phone reception in my house. So I found this new cool phone. What it does is connect to your cellphone via bluetooth. When someone calls my cellphone my HOUSE phone rings. Here's the cool thing. I push a button on my home phone and can call out on my cell phone from the HOME PHONE HANDSET. Now I can walk all over my house talking on my cell phone without ever loosing reception.

This is going to help me talk to clients as I run around looking for files or images on a computer. I can go up and downstairs and even though I am on my cellphone - it's not moving and not losing the signal.

You can read about the phone and see a picture here:

You hired a Professional - right?

So there is a new trend sweeping the area that I want to inform my brides of. Other wedding vendors showing up with Professional Gear to take pictures. There are a few problems with letting anyone with a camera taking pictures at your wedding. In my contract I have an exclusivity clause that states that I am the only person to be taking photos professionally. The problem with other vendors taking pictures is that guests at the wedding think they work for me. If another vendor is running around and taking photos you have 3 photographers running around. It's obtrusive (which isn't our style) it's annoying (which isn't our style) and it interferes with what we are trying to do; provide YOU with amazing pictures. We don't want to have to tell you we missed a shot because the DJ or videographer jumped in our way. We also worry that these vendors could trip or injure your guests. If they leave the wedding and then come back and say "we tripped over the photographer." That's a big problem. They were sure they tripped over the photographer, but they didn't realize they really tripped over the DJ. Legally, that can hurt us too.

I've also heard of vendors showing up with a big 40 inch screen and project THIER images on the screen. As I am sure you can understand we take pride in our work. Again, we don't want people to think that these vendors are with us. If they are taking sub par pictures that hurts us in the long run. People will ask me "did you take those" and then we have to say "no.." but sometimes people just assume. We also don't want their images to take away from OUR final product to you.

We ask that verify that your DJ's' and videographers will NOT be taking photos. It's not their job. They are there to make sure you have great music and amazing video. If they are running around taking pictures, they aren't doing what you hired them to do. Sometimes the vendors aren't telling clients they do this as an "added" bonus. We ask that you inquire and verify that they WILL NOT be taking photos. If you hear they will be, simply state that your photographer asks that other vendors aren't taking pictures and that we do have a clause stating we are to be the only photographers.

We appreciate everyone helping us with this problem. Although it sounds really cool to have "extra coverage" it's actually hindering what we do. I wouldn't show up with ipod and some speakers to your wedding to play DJ, I ask the DJ doesn't show up with a camera to play photographer.

6 Months with JJ

I am sure if you read my blog frequently you will remember JJ. Saturday I meet up with Chelsea and JJ to do his 6 month portrait. I can't believe he's 6 months old!!!!

We went to Brooksby Farm in Danvers Ma to capture him in a pumpkin patch. He was a good sport until we tried to put a halloween custom on him. :)

He has grown SO much! Pictures in chronological order.

O months old :)

Newborn session (about 3 weeks old)

6 months old! He is now sitting up on his own. Although not that great at it yet. He was funny to watch fall over :)

He'd just sort of roll backwards very slowly...

Final Weddings of 2007

I had my last wedding of the season last night with Jessie and Mike. They got married at a church in Groton, and then had the wedding reception at the Harrington Farm in Princeton, MA. (images below) It was a beautiful fall day! I couldn't believe it was 48 degrees out!!
Before I post those images, I wanted to post Karolyn and Daniel's wedding images from last Sunday. They were married in Weymouth and then had the reception at Crown Colony Marriott in Quincy

Here are some of the images:

The flower girls walking down the aisle

I have no idea what her dad said to her - but whatever it was - was pretty funny!

The first dance.

I was SO thrilled to end on such a high note last night. I've been working with Jessie and Mike for awhile. I did their engagement pictures last fall at the Chelmsford Fire Station. Mike is a fireman. I just love these two together.
They are both so happy and in love!

Harrington Farm http://www.harringtonfarm.com was beautiful and perfect for a fall wedding. I got some great sunset images but I never ever post the best pictures from the day. These were the images I saw first.

Jessie's mom helping her with the buttons on her dress.

Jessie's dad walking her down the aisle. She was SUCH a pretty bride!!

Husband and wife! Finally!!!

Thank you to ALL my brides for 2007! I had such a wonderful amazing season. I hadi so many amazing couples that remind me why I love being married. Every-time I go to a wedding it reinforces why i love my husband and my job so much!!
Thank you for letting me have the best job in the world!!

I will still be shooting portraits for 2007, so be sure to get scheduled in!

Okay Okay! I'll update..

I've been getting some harassing phone calls to update my blog with more weddings from this weekend. I am sorry I am so behind! I did shoot 3 weddings which is a lot andI haven't even looked at the weddings yet. Well, I took a sneak peak...

These are from Chrissy and Matt's wedding on Sunday at Rachel's Lakeside in Dartmouth MA. My ankle is still broken, so I was lucky enough to have the very talented very sweet Erin Curran http://www.ecurranphoto.com shoot with me. She was an angel. She picked up my slack at the ceremony, because I "walk like a pirate" says Michelle Turner http://www.michelleturner.com :) . Thank you Erin!!!

I kept telling Matt that he should be a JCrew Model. He was great to work with, and I just love Chrissy and Matt as a couple!

After the ceremony at the Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven, MA

We had amazing light...

One more wedding to post after this one. Karolyn and Daniel are next. Be patient.

I also have one more wedding for the year on Friday! i am sooo excited to finish with Jessie and Mike! Their wedding will be at the Butterfield Farm in Princeton MA. It's a beautiful location.

Julie and Damian

Today I shot Julie and Damian in Newton MA. I still have the broken ankle so Michelle Turner from Michelle Turner Photography http://www.michelleturnerphotography.com was nice enough to come down from Maine and help me. If you haven't checked out her stuff, take a peak, it's phenominal. We had wonderful light, a wonderful couple and despite my broken ankle, it all went pretty well. A HUGE thank you to Michelle!!! You're the best!!

The wedding reception was held at the Boston Exchange Center in downtown Boston. A beautiful wonderful location.
Here are a few images from the day. Here are Julie and Damian seeing each other for the first time. They were the cutest couple! So in love and so affectionate to each other.

Then we went over to Newton City Hall for some pictures, this is probably my favorite shot from the day.
They were getting out of the car, and Damian leaned over and kissed Julie

Then we did some portraits:

Then we did the girls

and then we went off to the Boston Exchange Center on Fisherman's Pier down on Seaport Blvd.

Sharon and Paul

I am so so behind in blogging this wedding. I have to apologize to Sharon and Paul. I didn't intentionally not blog it, i've just had this broken ankle and trying to navigate between two computers is hard.
I want to thank everyone for the emails, cards and well wishes. I truly appreciate it! So here is Sharon and Paul. They were married at the Westford Regency in Westford MA. I loved her dress. I wish more designers would add color to the wedding dresses!

These are a few of the images that I grabbed. The final images should be up this week.

A Little Emergency

Well, I know I've slacked on blogging, but I swear- I think I have a good reason. I broke my ankle.

It's okay. Well.. it could be worse. I wanted to wait to tell everyone on my blog so I could contact the brides it would impact. So the first question everyone asks is "So, how'd you do it?" Well, I was going for this really cool shot and balancing on one leg and I was really high up holding 2 cameras and I...... Okay- that's not true. None of it. The real story is really embarrassing and my brother in law told me not to tell anyone. First, you should all know in my family I am known as a walking disaster. I've always been clumsy. I always seem to hurt myself in the dumbest ways. My friends always wait because its always a matter of moments until my next injury.

Anyway- I was getting ready for Katie and Evan's wedding. My husband let our cat out and I was trying to get out the door to the wedding. I whistled for my cats (yes... they come running when I whistle). One of them showed up and then the other one decided to be a pain. I put on my shoes and walked around my building. I was about to walk down the grassy hill into the gully my cat hides and thought "I should take my shoes off so I don't slip." I took my shoes off and promptly slipped and snapped my ankle. I'll be fine. It's going to take 6 weeks to be perfect again. Now what kind of photographer would I be without a picture of it?? It's called a Spiral Fracture of t he Fibia. I broke my hip 6 years ago, and this hurts more in case you were wondering :)

So what happened to Katie and Evan's wedding on Saturday? Well, the wonderful and talented Todd Thamer http://www.thamerphotography.com/ stepped up and shot it. He was truly my hero. I don't know what I would have done had he not rescued me.
Needless to say I spent all of Saturday at Saints Medical Center.

The next question I get asked is "What happens to your upcoming brides?". Nothing. I've contacted all of them, and will have a second photographer as well as Seth with me to tug my bag along and carry cameras. I should be able to walk on it next week and thankfully I don't have any weddings this weekend. I am off to go hang out with Michelle Turner http://www.michelleturnerphotography.com while our husbands go hiking this weekend. Hiking was strictly prohibited by my doctor. I can't imagine why.

I'll try to post some pictures of my recent portrait session, but it's hard for me to post from the other computer when the network won't work. I am sitting on the couch in this position.
