83 — Wednesday May 4 — Ephesians 6:10-20
Tell you what, I needed a reading like this today. The little pointer on the gauge of my life is now clearly in that red area and pretty soon the alarm klaxons are going to sound and that little yellow light on the ceiling is going to start spinning round. I've reached the point where the to do list is too long to take in and I've got to prioritize among all the things in red on it.
Paul isn't announcing an end to the game -- isn't saying that everyone's gonna stop shooting at me. He's announcing that, in Christ, I can add regenerating shield organelles and layers of matrix steel and spiritual spun diamond armour.
You're gonna still feel the stuff, it's still going to shove you backwards. For me at least, standing firm is a relative thing. But the message is: God's giving you the stuff you need to hang on; don't roll over! |
