flowers for your computer

Robyn Ness is a computer author of note, who's already written a book about Mac OS "Tiger" which will be released in November. But she's also a photographer, and her macro-shots of flowers are just about the best desktops you'll find anywhere.

Many have large splashes of colour that don't add to the clutter of icons on the screen but with just enough sense of detail and line that you know you're looking at something beautiful. And she makes them freely available! Her amazing search page lets you choose a colour or plant type or picture shape, but I love to just browse. There are over 400 so don't visit until you have the time and space to stay a while.

My favourite is the red "gerbera daisy".
