 Having worked as a translation consultant with the NIV translation committee on it, and threatened to resign if they chickened out about gender-inclusive language, you can see why I've got to be in favour of the TNIV (Today's New International Version), even though I know it's not a perfect translation. |
| My publisher rang today to say that opposition in the States is such that if I go ahead and use the TNIV versions of the Bible passages quoted in my next book, there is at least one large chain of Christian bookshops in the USA that will ban it from their shelves simply on that basis! (LifeWay's initial statement said that they were just planning to ban the TNIV itself, but the publisher was now told that any of their books and commentaries in which the TNIV is used will also be banned.)
