| It used to be Real Estate Agents -- I swear there were a dozen of them in the little stretch of shops around the Northwood tube station near College. |
Now it looks like it's going to be cafes. We already had five: the tiny lavender-coloured "Taylor Made"; the "Gondola" by the station parking lot; the "Serendipity" on the corner past Waitrose; the "Village Express" behind the shoeshop and the newish "Brisa 36 Patisserie" further along. (All that besides the pub, of course.) |
Suddenly, two clothing shops have closed down and major chains are in the process of moving in: Costa Coffee into what used to be a woman's clothing store and Starbucks into what used to be a children's clothes shop. I wonder if either of them had any idea that the other was coming. And I wonder what they'll do to the independents... only Brisa 36 is a chain, I think. |
