over-caffeinated in northwood

It used to be Real Estate Agents -- I swear there were a dozen of them in the little stretch of shops around the Northwood tube station near College.

Now it looks like it's going to be cafes. We already had five: the tiny lavender-coloured "Taylor Made"; the "Gondola" by the station parking lot; the "Serendipity" on the corner past Waitrose; the "Village Express" behind the shoeshop and the newish "Brisa 36 Patisserie" further along. (All that besides the pub, of course.)

Suddenly, two clothing shops have closed down and major chains are in the process of moving in: Costa Coffee into what used to be a woman's clothing store and Starbucks into what used to be a children's clothes shop. I wonder if either of them had any idea that the other was coming. And I wonder what they'll do to the independents... only Brisa 36 is a chain, I think.
