reloda.co.uk

I've blogged it before, but I'm still sad and cross about the change in management and direction at www.mp3.com several years ago. There's still no place that really takes its place as comprehensively. I visit 3hive regularly, but only very occasionally find anything there that I really really like. Epitonic is a pain to use, but can be good for the occasional sample single few demo cuts.

Currently about the best is one that my friend Brett sent me to, a site called reloda. There's still lots of not very good stuff, but there are whole albums that are worth listening to, sometimes demos or live sets by signed bands as well as unsigned. Have a listen to this fun electronica from Sleeps in Oysters, or this rock from Jets Overhead, for instance.

Otherwise, I'm getting monthly music from the emusic folks. If you want to try it, e-mail me first! If you join as the result of an e-mailed invitation from me, I get a free music bonus. Here's the latest gem I found over there.

[added 14th Aug: Well, over the weekend, reloda just got a whole lot less useful. It's now in the format of a blog whereas the front page used to let you browse by album, complete with a short description of the type of music and links to let you browse in genres. I've written in a suggestion, but it's probably a volunteer outfit so they can only do what they've got time to do. *sigh*]

[added 23 Aug: Ah... it's getting back to normal now. Whew.]
