 The thing is, I honestly don't know whether I like this or not. It's typical, I know, of schmaltz and the "Jesus is my buddy" kind of mentality that I'm not in favour of. I shouldn't like it at all.
On the other hand... well... it's ice hockey and Jesus is wearing his usual mediterranean mid-east outfit plus ice skates. I like to think he's shouting "Hey, look at me, I'm walking on water!"
But, no... seriously now, there he is in the middle, mixing it up with them, not on anyone's team. I don't know; you're not going to believe I'm serious, but there's something that feels right about this statue to me. Am I just crazy or what?
Of course I have no doubts at all about some of the others. The skiing one is just plain wrong and He really shouldn't flaunt His height like he's doing in the basketball one. |
