Today we plunge into Lake Champlain, 20 miles down we lower the Canadian courtesy flag, hoist our “Q” flag, the ubiquitous yellow quarantine signal, to announce our presences as a vessel entering or re-entering a country.  Once we have cleared U.S. customs and immigration and are declared free of disease, pestilence and contraband we shall post our country colors, the big one, at the stern of our ship in celebration of our entry.  Then we will chow down, once again, on Italian Wine, French Canadian baguette and English pork loin and America’s contribution to our meal--Cheetos.  Mmmm.

Saint Jeans is the stop where cruisers sell Canadian paper money for American.   Needless to say we eschew those methods and head for the boulangerie (bakery) to exchange Canadian paper for Carbohydrates and fat.  We figure pastries and bread will stay with us longer than the American money.   Moments on the lips, forever on the hips sort of mentality.  Actually, I don’t think there is much thinking about it at all.  This bakery produces items all day long and is the best we have found in all our exploration of Canada.  I can promise you we have sampled many of these wonderful shops along the way.  In fact we hope customs does not weight us because they will start looking for the extra poundage as contraband and it will be embarrassing for them to X-Ray us and find all the partially digested loafs and rolls that we have consumed this morning.
