Captain's Log

Skinwalker Log June 26, 2005, Sunday, 0530 hrs

Newport, RI Anchorage kinda between the New York Yacht Club and the Fort.

Yesterday was adventure day after the previous wind day forced us into working on various boat projects.

We took the convertible to shore ate breakfast at the Seamen’s Institute and then wandered on down to the bus station where we found It was “Ozone Day”.  “O” day is a hot stagnant day in RI when everyone gets to ride anywhere for free.  Now, it was blowing 15 when I left the boat and it was like 85-90 degrees when we got to Providence which simply goes to show these people really do not understand summer.  They just play at it.  They pretend it is warm and, may the gods help them, most believe it is summer.  My response to this lunacy was to buy another jacket.

We hitched a ride on the fast ferry from Providence and meandered up to the Black Pearl for an overpriced grilled cheese with bacon.  Yeah, but we got to see and be seen, which, one suspects is the goal of patronizing the Pearl.  Now I am not sure anyone saw me, but boy, did I see things.  The price I paid is a bruised and damaged leg from Lynnie’s shoe repeatedly bouncing off my shin to re-gain a modicum of my attention.  Aw, Capt’n Lynnie, c’mon, I was just lookin.
By the time we got back to the boat we were cold again.  But it was a very nice excursion and it WAS warmer, if not summer to us.

Now sated, after plundering the Black Pearl, pillaging Providence and terrorizing the transportation system we have settled in back at the boat well position to take over the New York Yacht Club and Fort Adams.  If provoked, we can commandeer the cannon used to celebrate colors at the yacht club and coupled with our water balloon cannon, control the entire harbor at will.  We promise to do that only if we run out of rum.  We who are about to engage the local peasants in dialog, applauded you from the pilothouse.
