A-4 Memorial |
Almighty and most merciful God
who, when little children born again
of water depart this mortal life,
dost forthwith,
without any desert of other,
bestow upon them life everlasting,
as we believe Thou hast done
to this little child,
grant, we beseech Thee,
that through the intercession
of the Blessed Virgin Mary
and of all Thy Saints,
we may serve Thee
here with pure minds
and be forever united
to the blessed little ones in Paradise.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

LITTLE ANGEL
When God calls little children
to dwell with Him above,
We mortals sometimes question
the wisdom of His love.
For no heartache compares with
the death of one small child.
Who does so much to make our world
seem wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling
the aged to His fold,
So He picks a rosebud
before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them,
and so He takes but few
To make the land of Heaven
more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult
still somehow we must try,
The saddest word mankind knows
will always be Goodbye.
So when a little child departs,
we who are left behind
Must realize God loves children,
Angels are hard to find.

There is a season for
everything, a time for every
occupation under heaven,
A time for giving birth,
A time for dying,
A time for planting,
A time for uprooting what has been planted.
A time for killing,
A time for healing;
A time for knocking down,
A time for building.
A time for tears,
A time for laughter,
A time for mourning,
A time for dancing.
A time for throwing stones away,
A time for gathering them up;
A time for embracing,
A time to refrain from embracing.
A time for searching, A time for losing;
A time for keeping,
A time for throwing away.
A time for tearing,
A time for sewing;
A time for keeping silent,
A time for speaking,
A time for loving,
A time for hating;
A time for war,
A time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 |

They say memories
are golden
well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

| Beautiful things in
this life
are manifold tis true,
we count the stars by
thousands,
the birds and flowers,
too;
the sunsets and the dawnings,
rare beauties far and
near,
but all the wide world
over, there's just one
"Mother Dear." |
|
I am with you still,
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand
winds that blow,
I am the diamond
glints on snow,
I am the sunlight
on ripened grain,
I am the gentle
autumn rain.
When you awaken in
the mornings hush,
I am the swift,
uplifting rush of
quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars
that shine at night.
Do not think
of me as gone...
I am with you still,
in each new dawn.

Do Not Stand at My Grave and
Weep
by Mary Elizabeth Frye (1904-?)
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
|
|
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Let me grow lovely, growing old
So many fine things do;

Why may not I, as well as these,
Grow lovely, growing old?

A Child's Blessing
The greatest gift God
can send He send
with love to you.
A sweet and helpless
little child an obligation too.
Every baby God gives to us
is merely lent awhile,
to cherish, love, protect
and guard from every
snare and wile.
To form within its
childish heart
His image good and true,
God bless this tiny
newborn baby and
may He bless you too! |
|
In the morning of thy youth,
Learn this sober, solemn truth;
Life is passing like a stream,
Or a meteor's sudden gleam;
Like the bright aurora's blaze,
Disappearing while we gaze;
Soon the child becomes a maid,
In the pride of youth arrayed,
And her mind and form expand
To proportions great and grand;
Then she changes to a wife,
Battling with the ills of life;
Thus we come and thus we go,
And our cups with joy and woe,
Oft are made to overflow.
Each returning bright birthday,
Like the mile-stones by the way,
Will remind you as you go
Though at first they pass so slow
That behind there is one more
And, of course, one less before;
Watch the moments as they fly,
With a never tiring eye
Since you cannot stop their flow,
O! improve them as they go.
David John Scott (1850)

Bless This Little Child, Lord
Lord, look down from heaven above
And touch this special child with love.
Protect and guide this little one
'Till each and every day is done.
Remind us often that it's true:
This little life is a gift from you.
A miracle You've sent our way!
Lord, bless this little child today.

A Bridge
Called Love
It takes us back
to brighter years,
to happier sunlit days
and to precious moments
that will be with us always.
And these fond recollections
are treasured in the heart
to bring us always
close to those
from whom we had to part.
There is a bridge of memories
from earth to Heaven above...
It keeps our dear ones near us
Its the bridge that
we call love.

A friend is a treasure
A friend is someone we
turn to,
when our spirits need
a lift.
A friend is someone we
treasure,
for our friendship is
a gift.
A friend is someone who
fills our lives,
with beauty, joy and
grace.
And make the world we
live in,
a better and happier
place. |

May the road
Rise up
to meet you
May the wind
Be always
at your back
May the sun
shine warm
Upon your face
And rains
fall soft
Upon your fields
And until we
meet again
May God
hold you
In the hollow
of His hand

CHEROKEE PRAYER:
God in heaven above please
protect the ones we love.
We honor all you created as we pledge our hearts and lives together.
We honor mother-earth - and ask for our marriage to be abundant and grow stronger
through the seasons;
We honor fire - and ask that our union be warm and glowing with love in our
hearts;
We honor wind - and ask we sail though life safe and calm as in our father's
arms;
We honor water - to clean and soothe our relationship - that it may never
thirsts for love;
With all the forces of the universe you created, we pray for harmony and true
happiness as we forever grow young together.
Amen. |

Hold fast your dreams!
Within your heart
Keep one still, secret spot
Where dreams may go,
And, sheltered so,
May thrive and grow
Where doubt and fear are not.
O keep a place apart,
Within your heart,
For little dreams to go!

I live for those who love me,
Whose hearts are kind and true;
For the Heaven that smiles above me,
And awaits my spirit too;
For all human ties that bind me,
For the task by God assigned me,
For the bright hopes yet to find me,
And the good that I can do.

O gentlest
heart of Jesus,
ever present in the Blessed Sacrament,
ever consumed with burning love
for the poor captive souls,
have mercy on the soul

Be not severe in Thy judgment

May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of

A Place Where Children Are
What kind of place would heaven be
with all its streets of gold,
if all the souls, that dwell up there
like yours and mine, were old?
How strange would heaven's music sound when harps begin to ring,
if children were not gathered 'round
to help the angels sing.
The children that God sends to us
are only just a loan,
He knows we need their sunshine
to make the house a home.
We need the inspiration
of a baby's blessed smile.
He doesn't say they've come to stay,
just lends them for a while.
Sometimes it takes them years to do
the work for which they come.
Sometimes in just a month or two
our Father calls them home.
I like to think some souls up there
bear not one sinful scar.
I love to think of heaven
as a place where children are.

A Fireman's Prayer
When I am called to duty,
God,
Where ever flames may
rage
Give me the strength
to save some life,
Whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little
child
Before it is too late;
Or save an older person
from
The horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert,
And hear the weakest
shout,
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling
and
To give the best in me;
To guard my every neighbor
and
Protect his property
And if, according to
your will
I have to give my life;
Please bless with your
protecting hand
My children and my wife.
|
|
A Policeman's
Prayer
Lord,
I ask for courage;
courage
to face and conquer my own fears;
courage
to take me where others will not go.
I ask
for strength;
strength
of body to protect others;
strength
of spirit to lead others.
I ask
for dedication;
dedication
to my job to do it well;
dedication
to my community to keep it safe.
Give me,
Lord, concern;
concern
for all those who entrust me;
and compassion
for those who need me;
and please,
Lord, through it all be at my side.

The Gift of Life
I didn't give you the gift of life,
But in my heart I know.
The love I feel is deep and real,

We thought of you with
love today
But that is nothing new
We thought about you yesterday
And days before that too
We think of you in silence
We often speak your name
Now all we have are memories
And your picture in a frame
Your memory is our keepsake
With which well never part
God has you in his keeping
We have you in our hearts.

Irish Baby Blessing
May all the blessing
of our Lord touch your life today...
May He send His little
angels to protect you on your way...
Such a wee little fit,
sent from above...
Someone so precious to
cherish and love...
May sunshine and moonbeams
dance over you head...
As you quietly slumber
in your bed...
May
good luck be with you wherever you go...
And your blessings outnumber
the shamrocks that grow. |

Loving Memories
Your gentle face and
patient smile
With sadness we recall
You had a kindly word
for each
And died beloved by all
The voice is mute and
stilled the heart
That loved us well and
true,
Ah, bitter was the trial
to part
From one so good as you.
You are not forgotten
loved one
Nor will you ever be
As long as life and memory
last
We will remember thee.
We miss you now, our
hearts are sore,
As time goes by we miss
you more,
Your loving smile, your
gentle face,
No one can fill your
vacant place.

A Butterfly Hovers Closely
A butterfly hovers closely
And then quickly moves away,
Swiftly going where so ever
Her heart may freely say.
A butterfly lowers and rises
With the winds's gusty breath,
As if coupled within a dance
Of a loving tenderness.
The butterfly only knows
How it feels to have wings,
To kiss the petals of flowers
In such elegant flittering.
To have but one moment
Of such an exquisite flight,
Would be like a dream
Where all seems so right.

A new soul
a gift to us this day
A simple request
with us do stay.
The time we get
is much too brief,
Our pleas are headed
without relief.
Our hearts now fill
with joy and tears
Knowing we
will have too few years.
Taken from us
by the wings of love
To join the Angels
in the heaven's above.
Souls long past
are there to meet
This brand New Angel
with arms do greet.
From your place aloft
now with Angels blessed
Forever in
an external peaceful rest.
The soul we lost
is high above
An Angel now
watching o're us with love. |

Prayer of St. Francis
of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument
of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there
is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt,
faith;
Where there is despair,
hope;
Where there is darkness,
light
And where there is sadness,
joy.
O Divine Master, grant
that I may not
so much seek to be consoled
as to console;to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as
to love.
For it is in giving
that we receive;
It is in pardoning that
we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that
we are born to eternal life. |
|
It takes us back to brighter
years,
to happier sunlit days
and to precious moments
that will be with us always.
And these fond recollections
are treasured in the heart
to bring us always close to those
from whom we had to part.
There is a bridge of
memories
from earth to Heaven above...
It keeps our dear ones near us
It's the bridge that
we call love.

A Friend Like You
There's lots of things
With which I'm blessed,
Tho' my life's been both Sunny and Blue,
But of all my blessings,
This one's the best:
To have a friend like you.
In times of trouble
Friends will say,
"Just ask... I'll help you through it."
But you don't wait for me to ask,
You just get up And you do it!
And I can think
Of nothing in life
That I could more wisely do,
Than know a friend,
And be a friend,
And love a friend...like you.

Let me not to the
Where had I heard this wind before
Change like this to a deeper roar?
What would it take my standing there for,
Holding open a restive door,
Looking downhill to a frothy shore?
Summer was past and day was past.
Somber clouds in the west were massed.
Out in the porch's sagging floor
Leaves got up in a coil and hissed,
Blindly struck at my knee and missed.
Something sinister in the tone
Told me my secret must be known:
Word I was in the house alone
Somehow must have gotten abroad,
Word I was in my life alone,
Word I had no one left but God.

God looked around the
garden, and found an empty space.
He looked down upon the
earth, and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around
you, and lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be
beautiful for he only takes the best.
He knew that you were
weary,
and he knew you were
in pain.
He knew that you would
never be well on earth again.
He saw the roads were
getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed
your weary eyelids,
and whispered peace
be thine. |
|
God saw you getting tired,
And a
cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around
you,
And whispered, "Come
to Me."
With tearful eyes
we watched you,
And saw you pass away.
Although
we loved you dearly,
We could not make you
stay.
A golden heart stopped
beating,
Hard working hands put
to rest.
God broke our hearts
To prove to us,
He only takes the best.

Kaddish - English Translation
Magnified and sanctified
be His great name in the world
which He hath created
according to his will.
May He establish His Kingdom
during your life and during your days
and during the life of all the House of Israel,
even speedily and at a near time,
and say ye, Amen.
Let His great name
be blessed for ever
and to all eternity.
Blessed, praised and glorified,
exalted, extolled and honored,
magnified and lauded
be the name of the Holy One.
Blessed be He
though He be high above
all the blessing and hymns,
praises and consolations,
which are uttered in the world,
and say ye, Amen.
May there be abundant peace from heaven,
and life for us and for all Israel,
and say ye Amen.
He who maketh peace in His high places
may He make peace for us
and for all Israel,
and say ye, Amen. |

Twenty-Third Psalm
The Lord is my Shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down
in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths
of righteousness for His name sake.
Yea, though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff,
they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table
before me in the presence
of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil;
My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the
days of my life: and I shall dwell
in the House of the Lord forever.

Safely Home
I am home in heaven,
dear ones.
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is a perfect joy
and beauty
in the everlasting light.
All the pain and grief
is over,
every restless tossing
passed;
I am not at peace forever,
safely home in heaven
at last.
There is work still waiting
for you,
so you must not idly
stand,
do it now, while life
remaineth.
You shall rest in God's
own land.
When that work is all
completed.
He will gently call you
Home;
Oh, the rapture of that
meeting.
Oh, the joy to see you
come!

I'm Still Here
Friend, please don't
mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.
My body is gone but I'm
always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.
I'll never wander out
of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.
I'm the colorful leaves
when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.
I'm the first bright
blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.
When you start thinking
there's no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
I'm the hot salty tears
that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

The Resurrection Prayer
Most merciful Father,
we commend our departed into your hands.
We are filled with the sure hope that
our departed will rise again on the
Last Day with all who have died in Christ.
We thank you for all the good things
you have given during our departeds
earthly life.
O Father, in your great mercy,
accept our prayer that the
Gates of Paradise
may be opened for your servant.
In our turn, may we too be comforted
by the words of faith
until we greet Christ in glory
and are united with you and our departed.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen
|
|
Walk in Sunshine
May you always walk in
sunshine
And God's Love around
you flow,
For the happiness you
gave us,
No one will ever know.
It broke our hearts to
lose you,
But you did not go alone.
A part of us went with
you,
The day God called you
home.
A million times we needed
you,
A million times we cried,
If love could have only
saved you,
You never would have
died. |
|
When I must leave you
for a little while
please do not grieve and
shed wild tears and hug your sorrow to you through the years,
But start out bravely with
a gallant smile;
And for my sake and in
my name live on and do all things the same,
Feed not your loneliness
on empty days,
But fill each waking hour
in useful ways,
Reach out your hand in
comfort and in cheer and I in turn will comfort you and hold you near;
And never,never be afraid
to die,
For I am waiting for you
in the sky! |
|
When I'm Gone
When I come
to the end of my journey
and I travel my last
weary mile, just forget if you can,
that I ever frowned
and remember only the smile.
Forget unkind words I have
spoken;
remember some good I have
done.
Forget that I ever had
heartache
and remember I've had loads
of fun.
Forget that I've stumbled
and blundered
and sometimes fell by the
way.
Remember I have fought
some hard battles and won,
ere the close of the day.
Then forget to grieve for
my going,
I would not have you sad
for a day,
but in summer just gather
some flowers
and remember the place
where I lay,
and come in the
shade of the evening
when the sun paints the
sky in the west.
Stand for a few moments
beside me
and remember only my best. |

Jesus said:
"I am the light of the world.
He that follows me
shall not walk in darkness,
but shall have the light of life."
John 8:1 |
|
I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith.
Henceforth
there is laid up for me
the crown of righteousness

Day is done, gone the
sun.
From the lake, from the
hill,
from the sky.
All is well, safely rest.
God is nigh.
Thanks and praise for
our days
'neath the sun, 'neath
the stars,
'neath the sky.
As we go, this we know.
God is nigh. |

Angels
When you were born, an
angel smiled,
As you became a child,
an angel sat on your shoulder
When you became an adult,
an angel held your hand
As you grew old, an angel
walked down the road with you,
And, when you died, another
angel got their wings.

May the angels
lead you into Paradise,
may the Martyrs
receive you at your coming,
and take you to Jerusalem,
the holy city.
May the choirs
of the Angels receive you,
and may you
with the once poor Lazarus,
have rest everlasting.
Amen.
May the Souls
of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God,
rest in peace. Amen.

Psalm Twenty-Four
The earth is the Lord's,
and the fullness thereof;
the world, and they that dwell therein.
For he hath founded it upon the seas,
and established it upon the floods.
Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord?
Or who shall stand in his holy place?
He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart;
who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity,
nor sworn deceitfully.
He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness
for the God of his salvation.

When you're alone with
Jesus
and He sweetly smiles on thee,
Will you gently whisper to Him
a little prayer for me?
And when I'm alone with Jesus
and all else is hid from view,
I'll gently drop into His heart
a little prayer for you. |

Where I Am
No breaking heart is here,
no sad and chilling pain;;
no wasted cheeks where the frequent tear
rolls down and leaves it stain.
Dear Friends of mortal
years,
the trusted and the true,
you are watching still in the valley of tears,
but I wait to welcome you.
I won't forget, O no!
For memory's golden chain
shall bind my heart to the heart
below till we meet to touch again.
Each link is strong and
bright,
and love's eternal flame,
flows freely down,
like a river of light,
to the world from where I came.
And God Shall wipe away
all tears
from their eyes.
Revelation 21:4 |

When to the sessions of sweet silent thought
I summon up remembrance of things past,
I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought,
And with old woes new wail my dear time's waste:
Then can I drown an eye, unused to flow,
For precious friends hid in death's dateless night,
And weep afresh love's long since cancelled woe,
And moan the expense of many a vanished sight.
Then can I grieve at grievances foregone,
And heavily from woe to woe tell o'er
The sad account of fore-bemoand moan,
Which I new pay as if not paid before.
But if the while I think on thee, dear friend,
All losses are restored and sorrows end.
William Shakespeare, Sonnet 30 |

Our birth is but a sleep
and a forgetting:
The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star,
Hath had elsewhere its setting,
And cometh from afar:
Not in entire forgetfulness,
And not in utter nakedness,
But trailing clouds of glory do we come
From God, who is our home:
Heaven lies about us in our infancy!
William Wordsworth,
"Ode: Intimation of Immortality" |

TO ONE GONE TOO SOON
Little angel, sent from God
To a desperate mother in need,
You touched the hearts of those you loved,
With every word and deed.
The pain you suffered and endured,
Would have conquered a weaker soul
Your willful, stubborn, hope-filled heart
Placed you in a stronger role
Twenty-two precious years
You nurtured love in a woman void
You gave her love, and life and hope
And kept her spirits buoyed.
Now in heaven, Sarah, please,
Keep watch o'er your dearest mother
And always remember, won't you please
You were loved like no other. |
|
Love never disappears
for death is a non-event.
I have merely retired to the room next door.
You and I are the same; what we were for each other, we still
are.
Speak to me as you always have, do not use a different tone, do
not be sad.
Continue to laugh at what made us laugh.
Smile and think of me.
Life means what it has always meant.
The link is not severed.
Why should I be out of your soul if I am out of your sight?
I will wait for you, I am not here, but just on the other side
of this path.
You see, all is well.
