Pennsylvania Projects - Founding Fathers from Pennsylvania

Directions: Use your research skills to gather the information necessary to respond to these questions. There are several excellent resources on the Internet that provide extensive information regarding the founding fathers and these historic meetings.

The Articles of Confederation had been in effect since 1781. They were not working for many reasons. It was agreed to meet in a convention to revise them. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania had eight delegates to the Constitutional Convention of 1787. This was more than any other state. These men were leaders in their time.

The convention was held in the State House which was located in the city of Philadelphia. It was the same building in which the
Declaration of Independence had been adopted by the Second Continental Congress. Today that building is known as Independence Hall.
