Saint Matthew's Church, Stony Plain, AlbertaFounded in 1891, Valentin Mohr (1844-1917) was one of the founding members of the congregation. He is buried in the churchyard. The church building was originally built with a higher steeple, and it was lowered by Valentin's son Adam. Pictured here is a modern replica, the congregation has built a new chapel in town. Fort Edmonton, Alberta 1895Established by the Hudson Bay Company in 1795 at the junction of the Sturgeon and North Saskatchewan rivers. After more than a century as a center of trade for trappers and settlers, the fort was dismantled in 1915 to make way for the Alberta Legislature. Nisku, AlbertaThis township south of Edmonton was the home of the Winkelmann family after originally settling in Vegreville. It appears they moved some time after 1900.
