Watson, Minnesota 1910Watson Town Hall and school. The school (at right) is where Cliff and his brothers attended at the time this photo was taken. The Town Hall, built in 1897, is still in use by the town today. In the early days, the town hall facility included a basketball court and Clifford Odegard told stories of having seen the Harlem Globetrotters play there against a local area team. The Waterford Cooperage 1885Waterford township, Dakota County, Minnesota. This area was the home of Emily Elizabeth Campbell, maternal grandmother to Eugene Weber. Emily's step-father and brother were coopers by trade (as well as her son-in-law in later years). The step-father Thomas Reed, age 62, was listed as a cooper in Waterford township in the 1885 census. Emily's brother Ambrose Campbell also was listed as an 18-year-old cooper in the same 1885 census. Two of the men in this photo are certainly Thomas and Ambrose. Is seems probable that of the four young boys in the photo, one may likely be youngest brother Fred, age 15. Photograph from the collection of the Minnesota Historical Society. |
