Castle Home - near Stichill village, Berwickshire County, ScotlandBuild originally in the early 13th century, and possibly earlier, this is the ancestral home to Clan Home, also known as Clan Hume. After serving as a border defense keep for several centuries, it was abandoned in the late 1600s. It was resurrected for use as a folly in the mid 18th century. In modern times it is seen as the spiritual home for members of Clan Home. Available for public tour since 1992, it was handed to the Clan Home Association in the year 2006, and is administered under the Historic Scotland project. Photographer unknown. |
