Music
Explorations is a general music course where students will
learn or review basic music fundamentals, elements and
styles. Students will also learn basic skills on the
guitar, such as how to place their fingers on the frets to
play individual notes in melodies as well as chords. They
will be learning to read music and chord symbols and
diagrams.
The
students will be graded on class participation and
behavior, written exams and quizzes, playing proficiencies
and worksheets. Students will be asked to take notes during
class.
Please provide a folder and paper or a spiral notebook for
these notes. These
can remain in the classroom except when needed to study at
home. They may be collected and checked at any time.
Students are expected to bring a pencil to class.
Most of
the students are excited when they realize they will be
learning to play the guitar. My role as teacher is to show
them HOW to train their fingers. The students are the ones
who actually train them. The best player at the end of the
class will be the one who has made the best use of practice
time. There will be time in every class period allotted for
this.
I
appreciate your support for the music program and for this
class. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to
