Tardy/Absence Policy

Tardy Definition:
Be on time to class (your body must be in the door BEFORE the bell rings)
Tardy Rules/Procedures:
The students must have their entire body in the door before the bell rings and be in their seat, ready to make music, when the director begins rehearsal. A tardy to class will be excused with a written pass from the office or a teacher. Jammed hall lockers will not be an accepted excuse!!!
Classroom Consequences:
Students will stay after class the number of minutes they are late. Detention will be assigned after three tardies. If a student is chronically tardy (more than three tardies) they will be referred to the principal.
Absence Definition:
Century’s Attendance policy can be found in the student handbook. Choir Classes are participation classes; therefore, full participation credit cannot be awarded when a student is absent . Assignments and tests can be made-up in accordance with Century policy. Concert attendance is mandatory. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange for makeup.
Choirs will perform at least one concert per trimester. The majority of class time is spent on the preparation for concerts. Therefore, all concerts must be treated as a trimester final and will be a substantial part of the student’s grade. Participation in these concerts is required.
