DIRECTOR'S WELCOME
Instrumental music instruction at Curran encompasses a variety of musical ensembles for students to experience in their years at Curran Middle School. Students can participate in the Concert/Marching band, Orchestra, Mariachi band and Steel Drum band. Students have the opportunity to perform in ensembles at school functions, community events, and private occasions. In addition to large group instruction, students meet in small groups for further musical development. I teach 6, 7, and 8th grade students instrumental music and occasionally a music appreciation class. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions or would just like to say hello.
This year started with a nice surprise for me: I was nominated and accepted for the Multicultural Music Award by CMEA. I am honored that our state organization recognizes the opportunity created for students to participate in an academic environment that celebrates both culture and the academic rigors of musical study. Because of the efforts of the school board, administrators, and most importantly, the community, the music program at Curran continues to contribute to a quality education for our students.
