The Excellent Adventure kicks off - complete with
teary goodbyes and doggy deliveries!
And then it began.... with a last minute flurry of
packing and inventory of accompanying gadgets, we stepped out the door into the
great unknown. The gathered throng (otherwise known as the roomies) all gathered
on the front step to wave a teary
goodbye.
We
were planning on the taxi route but Mel kindly offered to drive us to the
airport in the doggy mobile. So, in went the luggage and us with it. Only one
problem - there were only 2 seats and three of us. Needless to say, I ended up
in the
doghouse!
Let's
just say being 6 inches from a frothing, semi-rabid pooch is not the preferred
way to prepare for a 17 hour trip...but then again - it certainly provided the
perspective from the other side of the
cage!
All
the above seems like days ago as we've just begun the second leg of the
marathon. 10 hours down (to Seoul) with another 6 to go! It's now...let's see
4:07am Sunday morning (Vancouver time) so we've been on a plane (or waiting in
Seoul for the plane to refuel) since 3pm Saturday. The conversation has been
reduced to deep discussions of Burton Cummings and the implications of "Stand
Tall"! OK...no one under 35 has a clue what that means...but I'm waaay to tired
to care.... This was us about 1/2 an hour ago while enjoying the scintillating
atmosphere of Seoul
airport:
OK...the
last thing I need is turbulence and the guy in front of me making a game out of
reclining & raising his seat. Amber is being a sideseat reader as I write
this incomprehensible tome - suffice to say there are glazed looks being thrown
my way. And, unbelievably (how long HAVE we been on this flight?), the fourth or
fifth meal is about to be served. On that note, I need to find the toothpick
from meal number 3 before the next one arrives - I'm sure it's lurking somewhere
between the seats...yumm. Oh boy, it's definitely time to sign off for now.
Until Singapore....
