| Back Story: The Apple Newton division produced many variants of Newton before shipping its first product: the Newton Message Pad. Some could rightfully be considered ancient ancestors of today's iPad! For some really great pictures of the solid case version, see Sonny Hung's photos on Flickr. Offered here is a 1992 Prototype (yes, that was 18 years ago!) of a never shipped Newton, code named "Cadillac". It is a tablet sized PDA in a clear case, so all that sexy circuitry is revealed. It required a wired stylus (lost / not included) that could be connected on either left or right side. |
