Graphic Design
If it were up to me (and I suppose it is actually, at
least for this site) I wouldn't separate design work by
the so-called different disciplines of graphic, product,
interactive or environment. All of my work is design and
it is all pursued in the same manner. All of it follows
from its purpose; that is, its form follows its function.
Nothing should be regarded as mere decoration: something
there merely to elicit a consumer response. It should be
purposeful and the consumer's response should be to the
inherent rightness (read beauty) of the design. As Walter
Dorwin Teague says in his masterful tome, Design This
Day, "Simple rightness of form gives us pleasure, and we
call it beautiful." I hope that you'll see this in my
work. The first four slides on this page are work
designed by me while serving as Global Art Director for
Nike Soccer Equipment. The Quip product and packaging was
designed for Heyer Concepts. The book covers were
designed for various publishers here in the U.S. – CgB
