Death defying peach cobbler

We had another stormy day today. Satellite radar showed rain and storms across the coastal bend. Cathi returned from the Huser's this afternoon with news that a Tornado had been spotted in Live Oak County. We later learned it touched down in Dinero, just west of Skidmore.

Our trees are loaded down with the largest peaches I've seen in the four years we've lived here. Cathi sent me out to pick some earlier this afternoon. She ended up baking three cobblers, one for us, one for the Husers, and a small one for Grandma. Midway through the project, she decided she needed more fruit. "I'm not going out in that" I said as thunder rumbled outside. A little later, Joshua informed me "Dad! Mom is outside picking peaches!" I found her and Zach circling the same tree from which I picked peaches earlier and the three of us managed to gather another bunch and hustle back inside without getting electrocuted. The boys seemed to really enjoy the cobbler, which I found surprising as they've never voluntarily eaten one before. Grandma returned the favor with a gift of delicious homemade pecan pralines and a bag of oranges.
