Passing the Bar!

That's code for, "I'm on my way to the liquor store."

Things are moving along with the album now. The UPC code above tells scanners that they'll need a price check on condoms, but only when you're mom's best friend, or an old elementary school teacher of yours is in line behind you. It also tells other computers that the product being scanned is none other than my new CD. It's kind of mind-bending to think that with the approximately 40 gajillion barcodes out there, I get one all to myself. I am represented by the numbers 05364. It could mean May 3, 1964 when Mickey Wright won the LPGA Clifford Ann Creed Golf Invitational. It could also refer to the 26 Watt angle Fluorescent Worklight manufactured by Coleman Cable Systems. Better yet, that number represents the image number of a giant starfish, presumably named Patrick. Isn't the internet great? It gives hindsight to the most far-sighted of beings.

The original company I was going to use to duplicate the album decided that either they were too busy, or I was not important enough to do the project. I'm thinking it's a pretty even combination of the two. Lucky for me, I was "outsourced" to a new company in town that audibly groaned when I told them that I was the graphic designer AND the recording artist. They are probably assuming that I'm down here hacking away on my Commodore 64 ready to "upload" my files off my cassette tape drive with my 1400 baud modem.

I'm turning in the artwork tomorrow, and then back to mastering the audio, which I'll be turning in the following week. Of course, by "mastering" I mean commanding the 8-track cassette deck I ripped out of my dad's old 1975 Oldsmobile and hitting it with a heavy magnet for optimal compression.
