How do your Easy Guide ebooks differ from the Course Book?
Our Easy Guide ebooks are in-depth guides to only one Mac OS X 10.4 application (Mail, Safari, System Preferences, or TextEdit) and most of the features of the application are explained in the ebook. Our Course Book, on the other hand, covers a range of topics and only a portion of an application's features are explained. Our Easy Guide ebooks are more detailed in descriptions for accomplishing tasks and, therefore, each guide contains numerous screenshots to visually assist the reader. Our Mac OS X 10.4 Course Book is designed to be more exploratory - the reader is encouraged to try tasks in order to better understand concepts, and, therefore, our Course Book has a limited number of screenshots but it includes many short exercises to further the learning experience.
Do I have to join the learning community?
No. Membership in the learning community is completely voluntary and you do not need to join and, if you do join, you can leave at any time. The Course Book is written as a complete and comprehensive text that can be used effectively without joining the community. The benefit of the community is the interaction with other Mac users and the opportunity to collaboratively extend the learning from the Course Book.
Why does the Course Book cost more than the Easy Guide ebooks?
The Course Book is over 270 pages of information with very few screenshots while the Easy Guide ebooks range from 100 to 160 pages with numerous screenshots, so the extra cost is for the additional content.
How do I join the learning community?
After your purchase is processed and we receive confirmation from Kagi or eSellerate, Claire will send you an invitation to join the learning community. The invitation will have detailed instructions on how to join.
When does my membership in the community start?
The invitation to join is valid for a month and your membership starts only when you've accepted Claire's invitation. So, you can purchase your ebook today and join the community immediately or you can wait until you've worked through a few lessons or even the entire book. The choice is yours.
