(Revised May 2008)
If you are using NeoOffice,
you may have noticed that documents do not always export
correctly to PDF. One
major problem is that some letters will be too close together
and, in extreme cases, two words might be joined together.
Clearly,
this is a serious bug if you need to export NeoOffice
documents to PDF format.
Use NeoOffice 2.2.2
I discovered that the problem appears to be less severe in NeoOffice version 2.2.2 than it is in earlier or later versions. This problem seems to vary from one version to another, so be careful when updating NeoOffice. Always keep a backup copy of the older installer on your drive in case you need to revert back to it.
Turn Off Paired Kerning
I found that the problem disappeared in version 2.2.2 when I turned off paired kerning for the custom styles I was using. Select Styles and Formatting from the Format menu and then right-click on a custom paragraph style. Select Modify... from the contextual menu and then select the Position tab on the pane that opens. Deselect Pair kerning.

Do the same for each custom style you've created. The file should export correctly to PDF once you've modified the styles.
