QuickSilver is a quick, keyboard-controlled program
launcher and much more. At its simplest level, it's an
intelligent program launcher that remembers your
program choices. You activate QuickSilver with a
keyboard combination of your choice, type the first
letter or two of the name of the program you want to
launch and click the Return key when you find the
program in the QuickSilver list. Nothing special in
that but the next time you want to launch that
particular program, it will appear higher in
QuickSilver's list and after one or two more launches,
at most, that program will appear at the top of
QuickSilver's list. In addition to launching programs,
QuickSilver has actions connected to programs and you
can launch the action with the program.

I first learned about QuickSilver from one of
MacBreak's video podcasts. These are interesting,
well-made video podcasts that are sometimes mini
tutorials of quality software. They also have audio
podcasts. You can download the podcasts or subscribe to
MacBreak podcasts from iTunes.
We hope you enjoyed this issue of Tips and More for Mac OS X. See you next month.
